HP My Display Touch Smart Edition a llows you to adjust th e screen display using the touch feature. ● You can adj ust sound, brightne ss, and contras t. ● Viewing mode can b e set to the factory defau l t, or optimized for mov ie, text, or gaming .
Locate the HP TouchSmart PC in the room to minimize glare from the screen. You can also redu ce glare by tilting the screen. The HP TouchSmart screen can be used as an input device; therefore, the c omputer should be placed so th at your shoulders an d neck are comf ortable.

The following sections prese nt some issu es you might encounter whil e installing, starting up, or us ing your computer and possible so lutions.
Power Symptom Possible solution Error message : Invalid system disk or Non-System disk or Disk error. When drive activ ity stops, remove the d isc, and then p ress the spacebar on the keyboa rd. The computer sh ould start up. Computer d oes not turn off when the Power button is pressed.
Keyboard and mouse (with cable) Symptom Possible solution Keyboard commands an d typing are not recognized by t he computer. Use the mouse to turn off the computer, unplug and reconne ct the keyboard to the ba ck of your computer, and the n restart your comp uter.

Microsoft System Restore If you have a problem that might be due to so ftware that was installed on your computer, use System Restore to return the computer to a prev ious restore po int. You can als o set restore po ints manuall y. NOTE: Always use thi s System Resto re proced ure before yo u use the System Recovery pr ogram.
To check the l ist of installabl e programs in the Recov ery Manager: 1. Tap the Start button, tap All Programs , tap Recovery Manager , and the n tap Recovery Manager . If prompted, tap Yes to allow the program to continue. 2. Under I need help immediately , ta p Software Program Reinstallation .
Virus scan Perform a full virus scan every week to catch viruses that might have slipped t hrough unnoticed. Mos t antivirus pr oducts have a schedu ling fe ature to keep track of this automatically. Monthly Hardware clea nup Thoroughly cl ean the outs ide of your co mputer.
Cleaning the keyboard and mouse When cleani ng the keyboard k eys, use a low setting on a battery-powered v acuum cleaner , to avoid remov ing key cap s and springs .
NOTE: Some feature s might no t be availab le on syste ms that are shipped without a version of Microsoft Windows. You must choose one of the fol lowing methods to p erform a System Recovery: ● Recovery Image — Run the System R ecovery from a re co very image stor ed on your hard disk drive.
If the comput er is workin g and Windo ws 7 is respondi ng, use th ese steps to perfor m a System Recovery. 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Disconnect all p eripheral devic es from the com puter except the keyboard and mouse. 3. Turn on the com puter. 4.
If Windows 7 is not re sponding, but the com puter is work ing, follow thes e steps to perfo rm a System Recover y. 1. Turn off the computer. If nece ssary, press and ho ld the Power button until the computer turns off. 2. Disconnect all p eripheral devic es from the co mputer, except the keyboa rd and mouse.
To perform a System R ecove ry using recovery media: 1. If the computer is working, create a backup DVD, or ba ckup USB f lash dri ve, contai ning all the da ta files y ou want to save, and then remove t he backup media from th e computer.
Choosing recovery media ● To create recovery discs, your com puter must have a DVD writer , and you must use only high-quality blank DVD+R or DVD-R discs. NOTE: You cannot use CDs or DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW DL, DVD-RW DL, DVD+R DL, or DVD-R DL discs to create recovery discs.
