2 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS S Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operating en vironment fo r your not ebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factor y for normal operating conditions, therefor e there should be no need to set or change the BIOS enviro nment to operate your not ebook.

4 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS MAIN MENU – SETTING ST AN DARD SYSTEM P ARAMETERS The Main M enu allows y ou to set or view the current system parameters.
5 Primary Master: Selects Prim ary Master submenu The product # of the Hard Drive Display the type of device on this A T A/A T API interface, if ther e is one. Pressing the Enter key selects t he Primary Master submenu allowing additional device configur ation o ptions for this in terface.
6 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS Primary Master Submenu of the Main Menu The Primary Master submenu identifies what A T A devices are installed. No te that actual hard dr ive label shown may vary . Depending on the driv e t ype, information such as cylin- ders, heads and sectors may also be d isplayed.
7 Heads: ■ A number between 1 and 16 –— This item is active only when Hard Disk is selected as type. Y ou can change the value by incrementing (pressing the [Spacebar] ) or by typing in the number . Sectors: ■ A number between 0 and 63 –— This item is active only when Hard Disk is selected as type.
8 LifeBook S Series Notebook BIOS Secondary Maste r Submenu of the Main Menu The Secondary Master submen u is for the internal CD- ROM driv e. The drive typ e is displayed on this menu as well as the Main me nu. Y our notebook auto-senses the characteristics of the internal drive installed.
9 Exiting from Main Menu W hen you ha ve finished setting the parame ters on this men u, you can either exit fr om the setup utility , or move to another menu. If y ou w ish to exit from the setup utility , pr ess the [Esc] key or use the cursor keys to go to th e Exit menu or to mov e to another menu.
