Y our remote is pow- ered by a sm all, lightwei ght 3-volt lithium battery that will last appro ximately one year un der n ormal use . When the battery begin s to weaken, oper ating ran ge will be r edu ced and th e LED on the rem ote will dim.

When the system arm s, you will h ear a short sir en sound , or chirp, and see th e parking ligh ts flash once . If the power d oor locks are con trolled by the system, th e doors will also lock.

13 © 1999 Directed Electr onics , Inc . T o disarm the security system, turn the i gnition key on an d press th e Valet ® switch th e preset n umber of times within 15 seconds . If the system does not disarm, you m ay have waited too long; turn th e igni- tion o ff and repeat th e process .

Just press an d hold for 1 secon d, and you will en ter P anic M ode . The sir en will sound and th e parking li ghts will flash f or 30 sec- onds .

The status LED will li ght solid if you ar e enterin g V alet ® Mo de a nd will turn off if you ar e exiting V alet ® Mo de.
16 © 1999 Directed Electr onics , Inc . About three secon ds after the parking li ghts flash, th e system will engag e the starter until th e vehicle is su ccessfully running. If th e motor is n ot running after six seconds , the system will stop cr ank- ing th e starter .
17 © 1999 Directed Electr onics , Inc . T o shut down the remote start: 1. Disarm the security system (if armed) by pr essing on the tran smitter . 2. Enter th e vehicle and turn th e igniti on to the ON position. 3. Step on the br ake pedal. The r emote start system will be shut d own when you step on th e brak e pedal.
18 © 1999 Directed Electr onics , Inc . Timer M ode automati cally starts your vehicle en gine an d runs it f or a pre-pr ogrammed tim e period , every three h ours for a total o f six operati on cycles.
19 © 1999 Directed Electr onics , Inc . T o exit Timer Mode: Timer M ode can be exited by turnin g the i gnition on with th e key any tim e that the vehicle en gine is n ot running. Y ou can also exit Timer M ode using th e tran smitter by followin g these steps: 1.

When ever the vehicle is r emote started , advanced an ti-grind cir- cuitry will preven t the starter from en gaging, even if th e key is turned to th e start position. This preven ts dam age to th e starter motor if th e key is turned to th e start position d uring r emote start operati on.
