7 1. INTRODU CTION The Vega W ireless Camera is Digicom’s ne w camera, equipped with two high quality CMOS sensors , in order to ensure the bes t image c apture under an y li ght conditions. The Color sensor can be used for daylight shots, while the Black&W hite sensor is especiall y indicated f or night shots with poor light.

10 1.3 AP PLICATIONS The Vega W ireless Camera can be used in a wide range of applications. W ith the built-in CPU, it can work as a sta ndalone system tha t provides a web- based solution transmitting high quality video images for monitoring purposes.
11 1.4.2 VEGA WIRELESS CA MERA GPRS CONNE CTED TO A N ADSL ROUTE R In this s cenario, th e Vega W ireless Camera GPRS uses a faster m eans of transport: the AD SL line. An ADSL Router was con nected to the cam era LAN port in order to m onitor the real status and the al arm- relevant images by a remote station.
12 1.4.3 VEGA WIRELESS CA MERA WLAN CONN ECTED TO AN ACCESS POINT ADSL ROUT ER In this scenario two Vega W ireless Cameras W LAN have been installed and both are provided with presence detect ion sensors.
13 1.4.4 VEGA WIRELESS CA MERA WLAN CONN ECTED T O DIGICOM’S VEGA VIDEO In th is scenario, a new device is mentioned: Digicom’s Vega Video . T he Vega Video is a n im age concentrator with an integrated Access Point.

18 2.4.2 POWER SU PPLY OUT PUTS The Vega W ireless Camera’s clamp s trip is provided with 2 power suppl y outp uts to power any possible presence detect ion sensor.
19 2.5 SIM CA RD (only for the VE GA WIRELES S CAMERA GPRS) The Vega W ireless Cam era GPRS supports PLUG-IN SIM cards. In order to pre vent d amaging of the SIM or an infor mation loss we advise no t to touch t he gol den sect ion of the SIM card ( where the co ntacts are to be f ound).
20 2.6 INSTA LLING THE EXT ERNAL ANTE NNA To install the extern al antenna follo w these steps: Make sure that the Vega W ireless Camera is off by tur ning of f the power sup ply a nd deact ivating the backup battery in the conf iguration pages.
21 2.9 FA CTORY SETTINGS W hen f irst started, the Vega W irele ss Cam era shows the fac tory param eters indic ated in the following tabl e. To access the configuration, connect the NIC of your PC to the Vega W ireless Cam era’s LAN port, using the Ethernet cable in the package.
22 3. CONFIGURA TION The Vega W ireless Camera is configured through its built-in W eb-based configuration ( e.g. In ternet Exp lorer, Netscape, Firefox or other w eb browsers). You can t herefore use an y de vice ( PC, PDA) e quipped with a NETW ORK INTERFACE CARD and an I nternet Brows er.

24 3.3 CONFIGURA T ION MENU This section des cribes the c onfiguration menus of the Vega W ireless Cam era. Most menus are e quivalent for both the W LAN and G PRS versions; som e differences ar e y et to be f ound. In the descriptive conf iguration sections you will obviousl y find only the menu for the specific versi on.
25 3.3.2 LAN In this w indow you m ay change the param eters of the LAN interface to b e found o n both V ega W irele ss Camera versions. Enter the value you wish to c hange and click SAVE . The ne w settings will be immediately eff ective. IP Address: insert t he IP address the cam era will use for tr ansmission on the LA N port.
26 3.3.2 WiFi (only for the VEGA WIRELESS CAMERA WLAN) In this window you m ay change the param eters of th e W LAN interface to be f ound on both Vega W ireless Camera versions. In order to comm unicate via wireless LAN with the Vega W ireless Camera W LAN you need to use an Access Point.
27 Encryption: W ireless network co mm unications can be interc epted easil y. T o prevent unauthorize d access to the net work you may activate W EP encryption.
28 3.3.3 GPRS (only for the VEGA WIRELESS CA MERA GPRS) In this window you may set the p arameters of the GPRS configur ation for the Veg a W ireless Camera GPRS. WARNING: the Vega Wire less Camera GPRS can o perate wit h any SIM Card. Th e GPR S f unction is available a ccording t o the type of contract st ipulated for the SI M C ard.
29 Service Center Address: it is the phone num ber of the Service Center provided by t he phone com pany managing the SM S mess ages. Such a value is read d irectly b y the SIM card inserted in th e cam era. GPRS Phon e Nu mber: it is the phone number you m ust dial for the GPRS Internet connection.

31 3.3.4 CA MERA In this window you may change the parameters of the im age capture. Fps (Frame per secon d): it is the frame rate of the cam era. It supports values from 1 to 10 fram es per second. Alarm Rate: it is the sav ing rate, in case of alarm detection on digital inputs .
32 Frame Size: def ines the image quality. Very High Excellent image qual ity. (VGA: 80 KByte – QVGA: 2 0 KByte). High Good im age quality. (VGA: 50 KB yte – QVGA: 12 KB yte). Mediu m Standard im age quality. ( VGA: 30 KB yte – QVGA: 8 KByte). Low Poor image quali ty.
33 3.3.5 SYST EM In this window you may act on som e of the cam era’s functions. Show Current Date: b y selecting the En abled item and clic king the SAVE butt on you ma y c heck date an d time for the Vega W ireless Camera GPRS. For date a nd time s ynchronization, please ref er to the description conta ined in the G PRS page.

35 3.3.6 ALA RM CFG In this window you m ay enable the digital inputs, th e relevant m ess ages associated to it and the releva nt managem ent in case of m ain power supply lack . Input1 Mo de and Input2 Mo de: activation and deactivation of the two digital inputs.
36 Sms Main Power Off: enables the s ending of a SMS mess age (with the Vega W ireless Camera GPRS) in case of a m ain po wer sup ply lack . T he SMS m essage will be s ent to the pho ne num bers inserte d in the SMS Num ber item to be found in the GPRS conf iguration page .
37 3.3.7 CAL LBACK (only for the VEGA WIRELESS CAMERA GPRS ) In this windo w you m ay associate a f unction of the Vega W ireless Cam era GPRS to a phone ca ll.
38 Live The phone call is associated to an I nternet connecti on request. W hen y ou ne ed to ac cess the Vega W ireless Camera GPRS remotely, you only need to cal l the Vega W ireless Cam era GPRS phone number f rom your mobile phone.
39 3.3.8 SECUR ITY In order to guarant ee a more sec ure access to the c amera, you can enab le the User Id and Password request each tim e you access the configuration p ages of the Vega W i reless Cam era. User Id: in this fie ld you must ent er the User Id se lected to acces s the camer a.
40 3.3.9 DYNA MIC DNS If y ou us e an Internet s ubscription with a dynamic IP address or a G PRS c onnection, you do not h ave t he chance to of fer remote access services because the I SP or ph one com pany assigns a diff erent IP address to the device each t ime.
41 Interface: select t he interf ace for the Dynam ic DNS service. LAN The camera will notify the DDNS Server with th e IP a ddress assigned by the LAN port. This option can be selected both on the Vega W ireless Camera W LAN and the Vega W ireless Camera GPRS.
