69 Advanced Functions Other Function s E Demonstration Mode The demonstrat ion mode disp lays the camcor der ’s main feature s. It starts automatica lly when you leave t he camcorder t urned on (usin g the power ad apter) with out loading a recording med ia for more than 5 minutes.
70 Editing R e cording to a V CR or Digital Video De vice Y ou can copy your recor dings by connec ting the camc order to a VCR or a di gital video device. If y ou connect a dig ital video device , you can copy recordings wi th virtuall y no generation loss in image an d sound qualit y .

Use the editing software supplied wi th your compu ter/captu re board to tr ansfer vid eo recordi ng from tape to computer.
80 Using a Memo ry Card Inser ting and R e mo ving a Memor y Card Y ou can use c ommercially a vailable SD Memory Car ds or Multi MediaCards (MMC) with this camcorder . The SD Memory Card has a protect sw itch to preve nt accidental erasur e. Memory cards have front and back s ides tha t are not interch angeable.
81 Using a Memory Card E Selecting the Image Quality/Size Y ou can sele ct the still image size f rom L 1024 x 768 or S 640 x 48 0 and the stil l image quality from Sup er Fine, Fine and Normal. 1. Open the FUNC. menu and select ( ) the image size/quality icon.
82 Changing the Still Image Quality during a T ape’s Playback While playin g back a tape you can cap ture a scen e as a still ima ge on the memor y card. In the still image size will be S 640 x 480, but you can select the sti ll image quality . 1. Open the FUNC.
83 Using a Memory Card E File Numbers Images are aut omatically assigned fil e numbers from 01 01 to 9900 an d stored in fo lders containing up to 100 images.
84 R ecording Still Images on a Memor y Card Y ou can reco rd still imag es with the c amcorder or re cord as st ill images scen es from a video record ing on the tape or fr om an extern al video sign al from the DV te rminal ( only: als o from the A V terminal ).
85 Using a Memory Card E Connection to a co mputer or PictBridge compliant printe r will not work when the memory card contains more than 1 800 images. For bes t performa nce, we recommend not reco rding more than 100 ima ges on the memory card when you plan t o connect t he camcorder to a compute r or printer .
86 Recording from a T ape in the Camcorder 1. Play back the t ape. 2. Press the PHOTO button halfway when the scene you wish to record appears. • The camcorder pauses pla yback. 93 Using a Memory Card E Protecting Ima ges Y ou can pr otect impo rtant images from accidental era sure when disp laying a sin gle image or index screen. If a memory car d is initiali zed, all stil l images and movies, even pr otected ones , will be erased permane ntly .
94 Erasing Ima ges Y ou can era se images one at a time or all a t once. Be careful when eras ing images . Erased i mages canno t be reco vered. Protected im ages cannot be erased. Movies can onl y be erased when t he first sce ne is display ed as a still im age.
