22 Setting the Time Zone, Da te and Time Set the time zone, date and time wh en you first start using your ca mcorder, or when you have replace d the backup battery . Setting the T ime Zone/Daylight Saving T ime 1. Press the MENU button to open the menu.

Once you have se t time zone, da te and time, yo u do not need to reset the cloc k each time you trave l to another time zone. Just set the time zone to the on e of your desti nation, and the camcorder au tomatically adjusts the clock .
24 Displaying Date and T ime during Recording Y ou can dis play the date and time in the l ower left corner of t he screen. 1. Press the MENU button to open the menu. 2. T urn the SET dial to select [D ISPLA Y SET UP/ ] and press the SET dial. 3. T urn the SET dial to select [D/T DISPLA Y] and press the SET dial.

29 Basic Functions Recording E Zooming The camcorder i s equipped wit h optical zo om and digital zoom. Optical Zoom Move the zoom lever toward W to zoom out (wid e- angle). Move it toward T to zoom in (tele photo). Press the zoom lever slightly for a slow zoom.
30 Digit al Zoom When the digital zoom i s activated, the camcorder automatical ly switches bet ween optica l and digital zoo m. With digital zoo m, image resol ution beco mes lower the mo re you zoom in. 1. Press the MENU button to open the menu. 2. T urn the SET dial to s elect [CAMERA SETUP] and press the SET dial.
31 Basic Functions Recording E Tips for Making Better Videos Holding the Camcorder For maximum stability , grip the camcorde r in your right ha nd and keep your right elbo w pressed agai nst your bod y . If necessary , support the camcord er with your left hand.

34 Adjusting the V olume When you use the LCD screen for playback, the ca mcorder plays back the soun d via built-in spea ker . The speaker do es not sound when you close th e LCD panel. T urn the SET dial up to increase the volume, and down to lower the volume.

70 End Sear ch When you have p layed bac k a tape, you ca n use this f unction to locate the e nd of the la st recorded scen e. 76 Turning Off the Imag e St abilizer The image stabili zer compensat es for camcorde r shake even at full teleph oto. It tri es to compensate fo r horizontal move ments; therefore, you may decide to turn it off when you mount the camcor der on a tripo d.
77 Editing E Editing R ecor ding to a V CR or Digital V ideo De vice Y ou can copy your recordi ngs by connec ting the camcor der to a VCR or a digi tal video device. If y ou connect a dig ital video device , you can copy rec ordings wit h virtually no generation loss in image an d sound qualit y .
78 When connecting a VCR, th e quality of the edited t ape will be slightly lower tha n that of the original. When connecti ng a digital video de vice: - If the pic ture does not a ppear , reconnect th e DV cable or tur n the camcorder off and back on again.
