27 The But ton: M ode or Flexible Recording The camcorder offers two basic modes for recording video o r photos: mode for beginners or if you just prefer not to bother w ith detailed camcorder settings, a nd fl exib le rec ord in g mode which lets you change the camcord er's settings to your p refe rence.

33 Selecting the R ecording Media Y ou can select to r ecord your movies and photos on th e bui lt-i n hard dis k or on a memory car d. The hard disk is the default me dia for r ecor ding both.
34 V ideo This chapter covers functi o ns re lated to shooting movies , including recor ding, playba ck, menu options and playlis t and scene oper ations. Shooting V ideo 1 Set th e mode d ial to . 2 T ur n on the camcorder . By default, mo vies are r ecorded on the hard disk.
35 • When recor ding in ve ry loud places (such as fir eworks shows o r concerts ), sound may become distorted or it ma y not be r ecorded at the actual levels. This is not a malfunction. Selecting the Vid eo Quality (Record ing Mode) The cam cor der of fers 5 r ecor ding modes.

37 Quick Start Function When you close the LCD pane l w ith t he camcorder on, the camcorder enters the standby mo de. In standby mode the camcor der consumes only about half the power used when r ecording, savi ng ener gy when you ar e using a batter y pack.

41 Changing the N umber of Items in the Index Sc reen By default, the index scr een will show up to 6 items ( sce nes or photos). Move the zoom lever toward W to sh ow u p t o 15 items p er screen. Move it to ward T to return to the default index screen display .

73 Printing with the (Pr int/Share) Button Y ou can pr int a photo without changing the settings simply by pressing . 1 Select ( ) the phot o you w ish to print. 2 Pr ess . • Printing starts. The button flashes and stays on whe n the printing is completed.

External Connections 86 Copying your Recordings to an E xternal Vi deo Recorder Y ou can copy your recor dings by connecting the camc order t o a V CR or a digital video d evice. Video output will be in standard definition, although the original scenes ar e in high definit ion.
