6 An Intr oduction to D VDs DVD discs are available in va rious types and two size s (12 cm and 8 cm d iscs). This camcorder uses the followin g types of comme rcially available 8 cm min i DVD discs: DVD-R (one disc supplied with the camcorder) , DVD-R DL * or DVD- RW discs.

Editing the Scenes Editin g Functions E 63 Editing Funct ions Editin g the Scenes Creating a Playlist Create a playlist to easily edit yo ur movies. Include in your playlist only the scenes you prefer or change the order in which they will be played back, without af fe cting your original recordings.
Editing the Scenes 64 IMPORT ANT Be careful when deletin g original recordings. Once delete d, an original scene cannot be recovered. Do not change the posit ion of the power switch or the / switch while the scene is being deleted. NO TE S Scenes cannot be delet ed when the disc is protected ( 65).
Disc Op tions Editin g Functions E 65 Dividing a Scene Y ou can divide your recordings in order to leave only the best part s and late r cut out the rest. Remember that when you divide scenes in the playlist, you do not affect your original recordings.
Disc Options 66 IMPORT ANT Initializing the disc will permanently erase all recordings, even if the disc is protecte d. The lost original recordings cann ot be recove red. Initialize all DVD-R W discs before usi ng them with this camcorder . POINTS T O CHECK Disc type: DVD-RW discs (VIDEO or VR mode).

Playing Back the D isc on an External Device E 71 Playin g Back the Disc on an External D evice T o play the disc you recorded on a D VD player , a computer ’ s DVD dr ive or other digital device, you need to finalize it first. Y ou do not need to finalize t he disc to play back your recordings with the camcorder connected to the TV .
72 Playing Back your Disc on a D VD Player or a Computer’ s DV D Drive After finalizing the disc you can play it on DVD players compatible with the type of disc you used (DVD-R, DVD-R DL or DVD-RW). For details about disc compatibil ity refer to the instruction manual of the DVD player or DVD dr ive.

Connecting to a Computer 82 When you are using a DVD-R W disc as the source disc, if the tray of a DVD drive other than that selected in step 5 opens when you need to insert the target disc, some recordings on the source disc may be lost. Click on “Cancel” and restar t the computer .
