I Safety information Please read the safety warnings and cautions provid ed in this guide to ensure that you use your machine safely. Do not attempt to use the machine in any way not described in this gu ide. WARNING You may cause an electric shock/fire or damage the machine if you ignore any of these safety precautions.

VI • After printing, do not touch th e electrical contacts of the print head. They will be hot and may result in burns or electrical shock. • Do not subject the mach ine to strong physical shock or vibration. This can damage the m achine’s components.

Chapter 3 Print Media Handling 24 Setting the paper thickness lever The paper thickness lever adjusts the gap b etween the print head and the print m edia to suit the p rint media’s thickness. Before printing, be sure to set the paper thi ckness lever.
Chapter 3 Print Media Handling 25 Setting the print media size and type For copying or photo printing (MP370), on th e operation panel, you need to set the size and type of print medi a loaded in the multi-purpose tray. NOTE • For copying, specify the print medi a size as described in Chapter 4.
Chapter 3 Print Media Handling 26 Loading envelopes Follow this procedure: 2 Open the multi-purpose tray , then pull out the tray ex tension . • The tray extension can be extended in two parts. 3 Place a stack of paper (print side up) in the multi-purpose t ray , and pinch the paper guide and adjust it to the left side of the stac k .
Chapter 3 Print Media Handling 27 3 Prepare the en velopes for loading. IMPORTANT • Press down firmly on the edges of the envelop es to make the folds crisp. Al so, press firmly on the area that corresponds to the edges of the back flap. • Remove any curling by holding the edges diagonally and bending them gently.
Chapter 3 Print Media Handling 28 4 Place the stack of envelopes (prin t side up) in the multi-pur pose tray , and pinch the paper gu ide and adjust it to the left side of the stack . • Load the envelopes in the multi-purpose tray with the short side down.

Chapter 4 Copying 31 Making copies When making colour or black & white copi es, you can adjust the image quality and density, and also enlarge or reduce copies as necessary. IMPORTANT • After turning the machine ON, or after recovering from Power Sa ve mode (see page 111), the image may not be corr ectly read by the machine.
Chapter 4 Copying 32 Adjusting image quality (resolution) You can adjust the image quality accord ing to the document to be copied. Follow this procedure: 1 Press [Menu] repeatedl y until < 4.IMAGE QUALITY > appears. 2 Use [ ] or [ ] to select the imag e qual ity.
Chapter 4 Copying 33 Adjusting exposure (density) Exposure (density) is the degr ee of difference between light and dark. Increasing the exposure setting further blackens dark areas and whitens bright areas. Whereas decreasing the exposure setting reduces the difference betw een bright and dark areas.
Chapter 4 Copying 34 Using preset copy ratios Preset copy ratios are convenient when changing between standard print media sizes, for example, reducing A4 to A5 size, or enlarging B5 to A4 size. Follow this procedure: 1 Press [Menu] repeatedl y until < 1.
Chapter 4 Copying 35 Using custom copy ratios This method enables you to enlarge or reduce the co py ratio in percentage, to subtly change th e size to which to copy the document. Follow this procedure: 1 Press [Menu] repeatedl y until < 1.ENLARGE/REDUCE > appears.
Chapter 4 Copying 36 Copying an image to fit the page If the document to be copied is larger or smaller than the specified pr int media size, you can automatically reduce or enla rge the image to fit the se lected print media size. NOTE • Some document size s may not be correctly detected.
Chapter 4 Copying 37 Copying two pages on a single page This feature enables you to copy tw o documents onto a single sheet of print m edia, by reducing and rotating each image 90 degrees. NOTE • If < MEMORY FULL > appears on the LCD when copyi ng, set the image quality to < NORMAL > and try copying again.

Chapter 4 Copying 39 Borderless copying This feature enables you to copy colour images so that they fill the entire page without border s. NOTE • You can use this feature only when the print media size is set to < A4 >, < LTR >, < 4"x6" >, or < 5"x7" >.

Chapter 4 Copying 41 Repeating an im age on a page This feature enables you to copy an image mu ltiple times onto a single page. You can set the machine to automatically select the number of times it repeats th e image, or you can specify the number.

Chapter 4 Copying 44 Creating a mirror image This feature enables you to make a mirror copy of a document. Use this feature when copying onto T-shirt transfers so that the image is oriented corr ectly when ironed onto fabric. NOTE • Use T-shirt transfers when the image will be ironed onto T-shirts.
Chapter 4 Copying 45 Shrinking an image to fit the page If the image to be copied is larger than the pr int media, this feature will automatically reduce the image to fit the print media size. Follow this procedure: 6 Use [ ] or [ ] to select < MIRROR IMAGE >.

In particular, if you use a Photo Inde x Sheet, you can easily specify photographs and set the printing options.

Chapter 5 Photo Printi ng from a Memory Car d (MP370) 53 Setting vivid photo printing Enabling this setting will make photo graphs appear more v ibrant, especially b lues and greens. It is also effective for photographs that we re not taken with the correct exposure.

In order to select the photograph you want to print, you will need to print the index and note the image num ber assigned to the photograph.

When uninstalling the software from Wind ows 2000, you must log on as Admini strator or have Administrator privileges.
