Exif Print This printer supports Exif Print. Exif Print is a standard for enhancing the communication between digital cameras and printers. By connecting to an Exif Print-compliant digital camera, the camera’ s image data at the time of shooting is used and optimized, yielding extremely high quality prints.
1 Preface Shipping Materials Thank you for purchasing a Canon Bubble Jet Printer . Check that all the following items are in the box. If anything is missing or is damaged, contact your local Canon sales representative.
2 Setting Up 1 Pre paring the Printer 1 Place the printer on a flat surface. 2 Remove the tape from the printer as shown. The tape position is subject to change. 3 Open the Front Sheet Feeder and the Front Cover . 4 Remove the tape and the shipping material.
3 2 Connecting the Printe r to the Computer Use a USB cable. Recommended: Canon or other computer manufacturer cab le, up to 5 meters in length. Follow the step s belo w to install the print er driver correctly . 1 Ensure that the printer and the computer are turned off.
4 3 Installing the Print Head • Never attempt to plug the power cord into the power outlet or unplug the power cord when your hands are wet. • Never damage, modify , stretch, or excessively bend or twist the power cord. Do not place heavy objects on the power cord.
5 5 Remove the protective cap from the Print Head. 6 Place the Print Head in the holder . 7 Lock the Print Head into place by lowering the lever . Do not touch the Lock Lever once the Print Head has been installed. • Do not touch th e Print Head Nozzles or electrical c ontacts.
6 Inst alling the Ink T anks • For safety reasons, store ink tanks out of the reach of small children. • Do not drop or shake ink tanks as this may cause the ink to leak out and stain your clothes and hands. 1 T ake out the black ink tank. 2 Hold the ink tank as shown in the diagram and remove the protective cap.
7 4 Loading P aper Loading A4 (Letter) Size Plain Paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder 1 Open the Paper Support and the Front Sheet Feeder . And then, pull out the Paper Output T ray completely as shown. 2 Open the Front Cover . 3 Move the Paper Thickness Lever at the top of the Print Head Holder to the lef t position.
8 6 Ensure that the Auto Sheet Feeder Lamp is lit. If not, press the Paper Feed Switch. Y ou now need to install the printer driver: W indows: Go to page 9 Mac OS X: Go to page 12 • Other than the Auto Sheet Feeder , you can load paper in the Front Sheet Feeder .
9 5 Installing the Printer Driv er Inst alling the Printer Driver – Windows 1 Ensure that the printer and computer are turned off. 2 T urn on the computer and start Windows. If any applications automatically run, q uit them. Disable any virus detection programs.
10 3 Place the Setup Sof tware & User ’s Guide CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive . 4 Follow the instructions displayed on screen. When the screen shown on the left is displayed, click Easy Inst all . 5 When the list of applications to install appears, verify the contents, click Inst all , then follow the instructions on the screen.
11 8 Click OK . Some screens appear after clicking OK . Read the content shown on the screens and click Next . 9 When the screen shown on the left appears, click Exit . Y ou can restart the system by clicking Restart , which will appears when you check the check box.

13 7 Select a destination to where you want to install the printer driver , and click Continue . 8 Click Inst all . 9 Enter an administrator name and a password, then click OK . 10 A message asking for your confirmation to restart your computer is displayed on the screen.
14 Basic Operations • If you detect smoke, unusual smells or strange noises around the printer , immediately switch the printer off and always unplug the printer . Contact your local Canon service representative. • T o avoid injury , never put your hand or fingers inside the printer while it is printing.

16 Basic Print Settings For the best print quality , specify the minimum requirement settings in the Main tab. T o get the best results, ensure that you select the type of media loaded in the printer when pr inting on paper other than plain paper .
17 Printing with Macintosh Adjusting the print settings according to your need s allows you to produce better quality prints. Printing 1 Open the Page Setup dialog box in your application. On the File menu, click Page Setup . Check the application’ s user ’ s manual for the actual procedures.

19 Print Head Maintenance If Blurring Occurs or If a Specific Color Does Not Print Perform print head cleaning to improve the print quality . Ensure that the printer is turned on and follow the instructions below . Windows Open the printer driver settings screen and click the Maintenance tab.
