Preparations 22 Preparing the Wireless Contr oller and Accessories First, insert the supplied lithium button battery CR2025 into the wireless controller . 1 Press the tab in the dir ection of the arrow and pull out the battery holder . 2 Place the lithium button battery with the + side facing up.
23 Accessories Fasten the grip be lt. • Adjust the grip belt so that you can reach the zoom lever with your index finger , and the button with your thumb. • Y ou can remove the grip be lt and replace it with the supplied wrist strap. 1 Lift the padded handgrip's flap and detach the stra p from the Velcro pad.
Preparations 24 Pass the ends of the s houlder strap through the strap mount on the grip belt and adjust the length of the strap. Y ou can al so remove the grip belt and attach the shoulder strap di rectly to the rear brac ket on the camcord er . 1 Pass the end of the strap through the rear bracket on the camcorder.
25 NOTES About the LCD screen: The screen is produced using extremely high-pr ecision manufacturing tec hniqu es, with more than 99.99% of the pixels operatin g to specification. Less than 0.01% of the pixels may occasionally misfire or appear as black, red, blue or green dots.
Preparations 26 Press the button again to return to the flexible recording mode (the button's light is off). Y ou can access the menus and change settings to your prefer ence. Even in flexibl e recor ding mode, the camcorder can help you with the settings.
27 Joystick and Joystick Guide Use the joystick to o perate the camcor der's menus. The joystick can als o be used in combination with the joys tick guide to operate additional f unctions. Press to display/hide the joystick guide. The functions that appear on the joystick guide will ch ange depending on the operating mode.

45 Cinema Mode: Giving a Cinematic Look to your Recordings Give your recordings a cinemati c look by using the [ CINE MODE] recor ding progra m. Combine this recor ding program with the 24 fps progr essive frame rate [ PF24] to get the enhanced effect of the 24p Cinema Mod e.
Video 46 NOTES • [ NIGHT] - Moving subjects may leave a trailing afterimage. - Picture quality may not be as good as in other modes. - White points may appear on the screen. - Autofocus may no t work as well as in other modes. In such case, adjust the focus manually .
47 Changing the Shutter Speed and Aperture Use the automatic exposure (AE) program to use functi ons like the whit e balance or imag e effects, or give priority to the expo sure value o r the shutter speed.

Video 50 Automatic Backlight Correction and Manual Exposure Adjustment At times, backlit subjects may appear too dark (underexpo sed) or subjects under very strong lights may appear too bright or glarin g (overexposed). T o correct this, you can manually adjust the exposure or use the automatic backlight co rrection.

Video 58 Using the DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone Retract the mini advanced shoe cover and attach the optional DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone to the mini advanced shoe. External Connections 86 Playing Back AVCHD Discs Using the DW-100 DVD Burner Y ou can use the op tional DW-100 DVD Burner and the camcorder also to play back on a TV high- definition (A VCHD) discs created with the DVD burner .

External Connections 90 T ransfer Orders Y ou can mark in a dvance the stil l images you want to transfer to the computer as transfer orders. Y ou can set transfer orders for up to 998 still images. Additional Information 94 [FOCUS ASSIST ]: The focus assist funct ion magnifies the image that appears at the center of the scr een to help you f ocus manually ( 51). • Using the focus assi st function will not aff ect the recordings. The focus assist function will be cancelled when you start r ecording.
95 [WIND SCREEN]: The camcor der automatically reduces the background sound of wind when recor ding outdoors. • Some low-frequency sounds w ill be suppressed along with the sound of wind.
