3-16 P aper Handling Chapter 3 ❍ Do not leav e the film in the sheet feeder for long periods of time. Dust and dirt may accumulat e on the film resulting in spotty printing . ❍ T o avoid sm udging caused by fingerpr ints, use a pair of thin cloth gloves while loading and handling the film.

Be sure to look thr ough this booklet for special information regarding the F abric Sheets. This section describes specific steps for using Fabric Sheets with this printer .
Chapter 3 P aper Handling 3-22 ❍ Insert the sheet w ith the cloth side out (to ward y ou) and the open end up (awa y fr om the printer’ s sheet feeder). ❍ Pinch the paper guide so it will move smoothly and slide the paper guide snug against the left side of the sheet.

Chapter 3 P aper Handling 3-24 Printing on Banner P aper For best r esults, use Canon Banner P aper . T o set up a pr int job on banner paper , you must decide on the number of sheets you need. Y ou can print banners from 2 to 6 sheets in length. N Alwa ys leav e an extra sheet at the end of the banner—just in case the ty pe runs over .

4-2 Maintaining the Printer Chapter 4 Printer Guidelines Follo w these guidelines to a v oid damage to y our printer and harm to you or others: ❍ Set the printer on a stable surface. Do not use an angled pr inter stand. A void setting the printer in dir ect sunlight.
Chapter 4 Maintaining the Printer 4-3 ❍ Do not place the printer too close t o a fluoresc ent lamp . Allo w at least six inches (15 cm) clearance between the printer and an y fluoresc ent lamp. Fluoresc ent lamps generate electrical noise that may cause printer malfunctions.
4-4 Maintaining the Printer Chapter 4 ❍ Clean the exterior of the pr inter with a soft cloth moistened with water . ❍ Clean awa y smudges and dust.

Chapter 4 Maintaining the Printer 4-7 BJ Cartridge Guidelines Y ou can use these car tr idges with the pr inter: ❍ BC-2 1e Color BJ Cartridge Contains the print head unit and two r eplaceable BJ tanks—the BCI-21 Color BJ T ank contains c olor ink (cyan, magenta, yellow) and the BCI-21 Black BJ T ank contains black ink.

Replacing the BJ Cartridge The following proc edure describes how t o replac e the BC-21e Color BJ Cart ridge w ith the BC-20 Black BJ Cart ridge. Follo w the instructions in this section to re place an old BJ cartr idge or to change BJ cartridges when you ar e switching between an y of the BJ car tridges.
