If you are not sure how to restart the print serve r, you may simply turn the machine ’s power switch off, and then switch it on.
TCP/IP CONFIGURATION 11 - 5 NC9100h_FM6.0 Using DHCP to Conf igure the IP address The Dynamic Host Configuration Pr otocol (DHCP) is one of several automated mechanisms for IP addre ss allocation. If you have DHCP Server in your network (typically a Unix/Linux, Windows NT ® 4.
11 - 6 TCP/IP CONFIGURATION NC9100h_FM6.0 Using ARP to Configure the Print/ Fax Server IP Address If you are unable to use the BRAdmin Professional utility or the machine’s control panel and your network does not use a DHCP server, you can also use the ARP command.
TCP/IP CONFIGURATION 11 - 7 NC9100h_FM6.0 Unix/Linux Systems Typically, Unix systems require the colon “ : ” character between each digit of the Ethernet address.
11 - 8 TCP/IP CONFIGURATION NC9100h_FM6.0 Using RARP to Config ure the IP Address The Brother Print/Fax server’s IP address ca n be configured using the Reverse ARP (rarp) facility on your host computer.
TCP/IP CONFIGURATION 11 - 9 NC9100h_FM6.0 Using BOOTP to Configure the IP Address BOOTP is an alternative to rarp that has the advantage of allo wing configuration of the subnet mask and gateway.
11 - 10 TCP/IP CONFIGURATION NC9100h_FM6.0 Certain BOOTP host software implementations will not respond to BOOTP requests if you have not included a download filename in the configuration file; if this is the case, simply create a null file on the host and specify the name of this file and its path in the configuration file.
