5 Printer LED Indicati ons : Blinking : ON : OFF * 1 The LED wil l blink in a pattern of ON for 2 seconds and then OFF fo r 3 seconds. *2 The LED will blink fast. Control Panel 1 Toner LED indicates when the Toner is low or empty. 2D r u m LED indicates when the Dru m is nearing end of life.

7 Sett ing Up Your Print er Do NOT connect the interface cab le. Connecting the interface cable is done when installing the driver. 1 Insert the CD- ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The opening scree n will appear automatically. Follow the o n-screen i nstruct ions.

9 1 Pull the paper tray com pletely out of the printer. 2 While pressing the paper guide release lever, slide the adjusters to fit the paper size. Check that the guides are firmly in the slots. 3 Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and m isfeeds.
10 Sett ing Up Your Print er Do NOT connect the interface cable. Connecting the interface cable is done when installing the d river. 1 Make sure that the printer power switch is off. Connect th e AC power cord to the printe r. 2 Plug the AC power co rd into an AC ou tlet.

13 6 When this screen appears, m ake sure the printer power switch is on. Connect the USB interface cable to you r PC, and then conne ct it to the printer. Click the Next button. 7 Click the Finish button. For Windows ® 98 / Me users: The Setup is now complete.

23 7 Open the D esktop Printer Utility icon. 8 Select Printer (USB) , and then click the OK button. 9 Click the Change... button in the PostScript TM Printer Description (PPD) fil e. Select Brother HL-5070N series , and then click the Select button. 0 Click t he Change.

30 Ins talling th e Driver 9 Open the Print Center icon. 0 Click th e Add P rinter... bu tton. A Select AppleTalk . B Select BRN_xxxxxx_P1_AT *1 , and then click the Add button. *1 x xxxxx are the last si x digi ts of th e Ethernet address. C Select Quit Printer Center from the Printer Center menu.
31 ■ For Administ rat ors This section is for using the printer on a n etw ork. An administrator should set up the printer using the following steps.
32 The BRAdmin Professional so ftware utility is designed to manage your Brother network connected devices such as network-ready printe rs and/or network-ready Multifuncti on devices in a Local Area Network (LAN) environment.
33 1 Start BRAdmin Professi onal, and select TCP/IP . 2 Select Search Active Devices fro m the Devices menu. BRAdmin will searc h for new devices automatically. 3 Double-click the new device. 4 Enter the IP Address , Subnet Mask and Gateway , and th en click the OK butt on.
34 ■ Oth er Inform ation If for any reason you must ship your Pri nter, care fully package the Printer in the ori ginal packing to avoid any damage during transi t. It is strongly recommended that you save and use the original packaging. The Pri nter should also be adequately insured wi th the carrier.
