If the pr ojector overheats because of a dirty filter o r another problem, the LED will flash, and the projector lamp will turn off, after which a 90- second cooling off period occurs.

14 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting the Projecto r to Other Devices Before Sett ing Up Note • Before connecting, be sure to turn off both the pr ojector and the devices to be connected. After making all connections, turn on the projector and then the other devices.
15 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting to V ideo Equipment Connecting to Video Equipment Using an S-vid eo or a Composite Video Cable Using an S-video or a composite video cable, a VCR, laser disc player or other video equipment can be connected to INPUT 3 inp ut terminals.
16 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting to Component Video Equipment Using a Component Cable (INPUT 1 or 2) Use a component cable when connecting to the INPUT 1 or 2 terminal and component video equipment such as DVD players and DTV* decoders. *DTV is an umbrella term used to describe the new digital television system in the United S tates.
17 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting by Using a D VI - D to HDMI Cable Use a DVI to HDMI cable when connecting HDMI video equipment such as DVD players to INPUT 4 terminal. 1 Connect a DVI -D to HDMI cable to the projector . • Secure the connectors by tightening the thumbscrews.
18 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting the Projector to a Computer Connecting to a Computer Connect the projector to the co mputer using the HD 15-pin VGA cable. • Secure the connectors by tighteni ng the thumbscrews. Note • See page 60 “Computer Compatibility Chart” for a list of computer signals compatible with the projector .
19 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting the Thumbscrew Cables Connect the thumbscrew cable making su re that it fits correctly into the terminal. Then, firmly secure the c onnectors by tightening the screws on both sides of the plug. Do not remove the ferri te core attached to th e HD 15-pin VGA cable.
20 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Using the Adjustment Feet The height of the projector can be adjusted using th e adjustmen t feet wh en the surf ace the projector is placed on is uneven or when the screen is slanted. The projection of the image can be made higher by adjusting the projector when it is in a location lower than the screen.
21 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Adjusting the Lens Using the Lens Shif t The image is focused and adjus ted to the desired size using the focus ring or zoom ring on the projector . 1 Zoom is adjusted by rot at ing the zoom ring. 2 Focus is adjusted by mov ing the focus ring.
22 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Setting up the Screen Position the projector perpendicular to the screen with all feet flat and le vel to achieve an optimal image . St andard Setup (Front Projection) Place the projector at the r equire d distance from the screen according to the desired picture size.

Info • The language preset at the factory is English. If you want to change the on- screen display to another language, reset the language according to the procedure on page 28 .

Adjusting Image Pr eferences Use this option to adjust the overall brightness of the im age. Use this control in conjunction with contrast to fine-tune the display .

Easy to Use Functions 43 H-V Position Function This function enables you to center the display vertically a nd horizonta lly . 1 Press “ W ” or “ X ” of the H Position, the display will move to the lef t or the right. 2 Press “ W ” or “ X ” of the V Position, the display will move upward or dow nward.
44 Easy to Use Functions H-V Keystone Function Correcting T rapezoidal Distortion and Adjusting V ertical Size of the pi cture. This function allows for Keystone correction. Note • When the image is proj ec ted either from top or from bottom toward the screen at an angle, the image becomes distorted trapezoidally .
Easy to Use Functions 45 White Enhance Selecting the Economy Mode These functions allow you to reduce t he power consumption of the projector . Use this option to adjust: the color: white bright or dark. Note • ON Emphasizes the bright portions of imag es.
46 Easy to Use Functions Automatic Power Off Function Source Select When an input signal is not detected or you don't press any inpu t button on Keypad or remote for more than 15 minutes, the projector will automatically turn off if set to “ON”.
Easy to Use Functions 47 OSD T imeout Setting a Background Image This function allows you to select the image displa ye d when a signal is not being sent to the projector . OSD T i meout is used to set how long the OSD will stay open if no buttons are pressed.
48 Easy to Use Functions OSD Blending This function allows yo u to set the transparency of the OSD menu. W hen set to transparent, you can see the image behind th e menu.
Easy to Use Functions 49 Deinterlace This function allows you to determine the type of incoming video content-film, static interl aced video and moving inte rlaced video. Di fferent algorithms are applied fo r each of the content types. Select “Deinterlace” f rom the “Options” me nu on th e menu screen .
50 Easy to Use Functions Reset Select this option to set all items in the “Option” menu to the factory default values. Lamp T imer Reset Lamp T imer Reset is used to re set the lamp counter . Y ou should reset the Ti m e r after you install a new lamp.

54 Appendix Maintenance Cleaning th e projector Unplug the power cord before cleaning the proj ector . Avoid using benzene or thinner , as these can da mage th e finish on the cabinet and operation panel. Do not use volatile agents such as insecticides on the projector .
Appendix 55 Cleaning the V entilative Holes • This projector is equipped with ventilative holes to ensure the optima l operating condition of the projector . • Periodically clean the ventilative ho le by vacuuming it off with a va cuum cleaner . • The ventilative hol es should be clean ed every 100 hours of use.
56 Appendix About the Lamp The projector lamp has a life of 2000 hours. Maintain proper ventilation to kee p the lamp operating throughout it s lifetime.
Appendix 57 Removing and Inst alling the Lamp Unit Follow these instructions to replace the lamp. • Be sure to remove the lamp unit by the handle. Be sure not to touch the glass su rface of the lamp unit or the inside of th e projector . • T o av oid injur ing yourself and dama ge to the lamp, be sure to carefull y follow the steps below .
