Making a Basic Netw ork Connection Before You Start In the foll owing instruction for maki ng a network connecti on, we use the util ity we provided to confi gure your wireless network setti ngs.
12 To use this adapter in Ad-Hoc Mode 1. Double cli ck the icon o n your desktop . 2. Click the “Av ailable Net work” button t o scan avail able wi reless network adapters. Do uble click on the n etwork adapter that you are goi ng to connect t o. 3.

14 To use this adapter in Infrastructure Mode: 1. Double cli ck the icon o n your desktop . 2. Click the “Available Network” button to scan availabl e access points. Double click on the A P that you ar e going to conn ect to. 3. Click the OK bu tton to confi rm that you a re connectin g to an open wi reless network.
15 Note: This example is an open wi reless n etwork. If you are going to connect to an AP with security protection, you will have to configure the encryption settings in this profile to be correspond ing to your AP.

Add Click this bu tton to add a connection p rofile for thi s adapter . Remove T o remove a conn ection profi le, cli ck this p rofile on the profil e list and click this but ton to delete it.
18 Available Network This available tab li sts the reachable wi reless n etwork of thi s adapter . Refresh Click this button t o rescan available netwo rks around the adapter . Add to Profil e T o ad d an available Network t o your profil e li st, select an av ailabl e network and cli ck this butt on to add.
19 Advanced This Adv anced tab provides adv anced configurations to this ad apter . Every modifi cation in this ta b will be perfo rmed after cli cking the Apply b utton. T o restore the default settings of the adv anced ta b, cli ck the Set defaults button to perform resto ring.

24 2. The R T -Set scans the av ailable AP within your LAN. Those AP are listed with their SSID. Click the wire less AP that you are g oing t o co nnect with and then click the “N ext” button. Y ou may also click the “Refresh” button to scan wireless AP again.
25 5. Configure the IP address for connecting to t he network. Y ou may choo se “Use the following IP address” to fill in IP addresses manually or choose “Obtain an IP address automatically (recommend)” . 6. After configuring IP addresses, click the “Finish” button to complete.
26 Connect to a wireless network in ad hoc mode 1. T o connect this adapt er to another computer , sel ect the “Stati on (ad hoc)” mo de and click the “Next” button to proceed. 2. The R T -Set scans the av ailable wireless adapte rs within y our LAN.
27 3. The “unsecured network” window may pop up if the adapter you select doesn’t use security encryption settings. Click the “OK” button after your confirmation. 4. Click “OK” after configuring the profile content to be corresponding to the wireless adapter that you are going to connect with.
28 5. Configure the IP address fo r co nnecting to the wireless adapter . Y ou m ay choose “Use the following IP address” to fill in IP addresses manually or choose “Obtain an IP address automatically” .
29 Use this adapter as an A P 1. T o use this adapter as an AP (access point), select the “ AP” mode and click the “Next” button to proceed. 2. Select “N ormal Use r” (recomm end) to mak e an step-by -step co nfiguration. Y ou may also select “ Adv anced Users” to configure this AP with more detail.
30 3. Assign an SSID for this AP , which is the name that is going to be identified while other wireless devices scan for available network. Choose to use WEP encryption or not from the drop list and click “Next ” to proceed. 4. Click the “Next” button after confirmi ng those settings above.
