Connec tions 26 En The use of subwoofers with b uilt-in amplifiers, such as the Y ama ha Acti ve Servo Processing Subwoof er System, is ef fec tiv e not o nly for reinforcing bass frequencies from any or all channels, but also for reproducing th e high fidelity sou nd of the LFE (lo w-frequen cy ef fect) channel included in digital audio signals.
Connections 27 En Preparation The presence speakers supplement the sound from the front and surr ound back speakers with extra ambient ef fects produced by the sound field programs (see page 58). Pres ence speake rs function more ef fectively when the CINEMA DSP HD³ mode is activ e (see page 64).

Connections 41 En Preparation Both FM and AM indoor antennas are supplied with this unit. Connect each antenna correctly to the designated terminals. In general, these antennas should prov ide suf ficient signal strength. • The AM loop antenna should be placed a way from this unit.

FM/AM tuning 69 En Internal Sour ce Operation If the signal receiv ed from the stat ion you w ant to select is weak, tune into it manually . Manually tuning into an FM stati on automatically switches the tuner to monaural reception to increase the signal qual ity .
