18 En Connec tions This unit is equipped with the DOCK term inal on the rear panel that allo ws you to conne ct a Y amaha iPod univ ersal dock (YDS-10, sold separa tely) where you can station your iPod and control playba ck of your iPod using the supplied remote control.
19 En Connections English PREP ARA TION Both FM and AM indoor ante nnas are supplied with this unit. In genera l, these anten n as should provi de suf fici ent signal strength. Connect each antenna correctly to the designated terminals. • The AM loop antenna should be placed away from this unit.

Although you do not ha ve to change the initial settings, you can change some of the parameters to better suit the input source or your listening room.
FM/AM TUNING 38 En There are 2 tuning methods: automatic a nd manual. Automatic tuning is ef fecti ve when st ation signals are strong and there is no interference. If the signal from the station you w ant to select is weak, tu ne into it manually . Y ou can also use the automatic and ma nual preset tuning fe atures to store u p to 40 stations.
39 En FM/AM tuning English BAS I C OPERA TION Y ou can use the automatic pres et tuning feature to store FM stations with strong signals up to 40 (A1 to E8: 8 preset station numbers in ea ch of the 5 preset station groups) of those stations in order .
40 En FM/AM tuning Y ou can tune into an y desired station simply by selecting the preset station group and number under which it was stored. y When performing this oper ation w ith the remote control, set the operation mode selector ( K ) to SOURCE and then press A TUNER to select “TUNE R” as the input source.
XM SATELLITE RADIO TUNING 41 En English BAS I C OPERA TION XM Satellite Radio offers an e xtraordin ary v ariety of commercial-fre e music, plus the best in sports, news, talk and entertainment. XM is br oadcast in superior digital audio from coa st to coast.
42 En XM Satellite Radio tuning Once you ha ve installed the XM Mini-T uner Dock, inserted the XM Mini-T uner, connected the XM Dock to your XM Ready ® home audio system, and installed the antenna, you are ready to subscribe and begin recei ving XM programming.

USING IPOD™ 46 En Once you hav e stationed your iPod in a Y amaha iPod universal dock (YDS-1 0, sold separately) connected to the DOCK terminal of th is unit (see pa ge 18), you can enjoy playback of your iPod usin g the supplied remote control.

Change the initial settings (indicated in bold under each parameter) to reflect the needs of your listenin g en vironment.

55 En SET MENU English AD V ANCED OPERA TION Maximum volume MAX VOL. Use this feature to set the maximum vo lume le vel. This feature is useful to av oid the une xpected loud sound b y mistake. For example, the orig inal volume range is 16 dB to –80 dB.
