Ensure that all passengers use their seatbelts. It is important that the seatbelt lies against the body so it can provide maximum protection.
01 Safety Seatbelts 01 `` 19 Seatbelts and pregnancy G020105 The seatbelt should always be worn during pregnancy. But it is crucial that it be worn in the correct way. The diagonal section of the seat- belt should wrap over the shoulder then be routed between the breasts and to the side of the abdomen.
01 Safety Seatbelts 01 20 Seatbelt tensioner The front seatbelts and the two for the outer rear seats are equipped with seatbelt tension- ers. A mechanism in the seatbelt tensioner tightens the seatbelt in the event of a suffi- ciently violent collision.

The symbol goes out after approx. 6 seconds pro- vided the airbag system is fault-free.
01 Safety Airbags 01 22 Airbag system G0201 11 SRS system, left-hand drive The system consists of airbags and sensors. A sufficiently violent collision trips the sensors and the airbag(s) are inflated with hot gas. To cushion the impact, the airbag deflates when compressed.

01 Safety Side airbags (SIPS bags) 01 27 G025316 Front passenger seat, left-hand drive. The SIPS bag system consists of side airbags and sensors. A sufficiently violent collision trips the sensors and the side airbags are inflated. The airbag inflates between the occupant and the door panel and thereby cushions the initial impact.
01 Safety Inflatable Curtain (IC) 01 28 Properties G015265 The inflatable curtain IC (Inflatable Curtain) is a part of SIPS and the airbags. It is fitted in the headlining along both sides of the roof and protects the car's occupants sitting in the outer seats.

WHEELS AND TYRES.
07 Wheels and tyres General 07 192 Driving characteristics and tyres The tyres greatly affect the car's driving cha- racteristics. The type of tyre, dimensions, tyre pressure and speed rating are important for how the car performs.
07 Wheels and tyres General 07 `` 193 The reason for this is that tyres age and decom- pose, even if they are hardly ever or never used. The function can therefore be affected due to the tyre's constituent materials being broken down. In such a case the tyre should then not be used.
07 Wheels and tyres General 07 194 recommended not to drive on winter tyres that have a tread depth of less than 4 mm. Snow chains Snow chains may only be used on the front wheels. This also applies to all-wheel-drive cars. Never drive faster than 50 km/h with snow chains.
07 Wheels and tyres General 07 * Option/accessory, for more information, see Introduction. 195 wheel nuts are used in combination with wheel covers, the locking wheel nut should be moun- ted on the bolt nearest the air valve. Otherwise the wheel cover cannot be fitted to the rim.

08 Car care Touching up paintwork 08 212 Paintwork Paint is an important part of the car's rust- proofing and should therefore be checked reg- ularly. To avoid the onset of rust, damaged paintwork should be rectified immediately. The most common types of paintwork damage are stone chips, scratches, and marks on the edges of wings and doors.
08 Car care Rustproofing 08 213 Inspection and maintenance Your car has already received a thorough and complete rustproofing at the factory. Parts of the body are made of galvanised sheet metal. The underbody is protected by a wear-resis- tant anti-corrosion compound.
