A second han dset can be set to function as a remote speaker , allowing you to moni tor sounds in the ro om .

Y o u do n ot have to press any buttons to answer the call. 1) Enter th e H andset Setup m enu, and th en the AutoT alk submenu (see "Entering the Menu" on page 16).
[22] GETTING START ED www.uniden.com Setting the T rue Banner (Handset only) T rue Banner lets you customize the name your handset displa ys. The nam e will be displaye d on the LCD screen during Standby Mode , I ntercom, Intercom H old, Room Monitor and Copy P hon ebook ope rati on.
GETTING S TARTED [ 23] www.uniden.com Adjus ting the LCD Contr ast Contr ast adjusts the han dset LCD bri ghtn ess. Ch oose one fr om th e 10 levels for optimum viewing. 1) Enter th e Han dset Setup or the Base Setup menu, and then th e Contrast subm enu (see "Entering th e Men u" on page 16).
[24] GETTING START ED www.uniden.com Setting the Animatio n Scree n (Handset Only) The Animati on Screen displays animati on on the handset LCD (see page 7). The animation s will b e displayed on the LCD screen during a call, ring er volume setting, paging operation, when you hang up and so on.

Setting the Message Al ert On or Off Messag e Alert sounds an alert tone when you have an unhear d messag e . If you set the Mess age Alert on, the alert tone will sound every 1 5 seconds when a new mess age is r eceived.

[30] GETTING START ED www.uniden.com Setting CIDCW (Cal ler ID on Call W aiting) CIDCW sets the Caller ID on Cal l W aiting (CIDCW) displ ays the name an d number of an incoming call whi le you are on the line . Ca ll Waiting Deluxe (CWDX) allows y ou to handle call wa iting calls in seven differe nt wa ys.
GETTING S TARTED [ 31] www.uniden.com Setting the Dial Mode Dial Mod e sets the dial mode to tone or pulse. Most phone systems use tone dialin g; the def ault setting is tone dialin g. Set the dialin g mod e to match the dialing system us ed by yo ur local phone service .
[32] GETTING START ED www.uniden.com De-r egister the H andset (Handset only ) Deregister the handset's ID from the m ain base unit or the base ID from the handset. Use this opti on, for e xample , wh en you chang e the di gital security code (see pag e 72 ).
BASICS [33] www.uniden.com Making and Receiving Calls This handset has a built-in spea kerphone that allows you to have a hands- free conversation. This feature allow s you to easil y comm uni cat e whil e per for min g ot he r ta sks , su ch a s cooki ng.
[34] BASICS www.uniden.com Flash and Call W aiting If you have Call Wa iting servi ce and a call waitin g tone sounds while yo u are on a call, press talk/flash on the han dset or flash/find hs on th e base to accept the w aiting call. Th ere is a sh ort pause , and th en you will hear the new caller .
BASICS [35] www.uniden.com Redialing a Call The last thr ee phon e numbers dialed can be quickly redi aled from the handset or base. 1) Press the REDIAL so ft key in standby mod e . 2) Press volume up/ down . Each press of volume up/ down wi ll display one of th e last three number red ia l e d.

Y ou can also mute the rin ger ton e while the phon e is ringin g by pressin g do not disturb on the base . Activatin g the DND while the an swering system is off will turn the answerin g system on auto mati cally .
[38] BASICS www.uniden.com T one Dialing Switch-over Some telephone companies use equipment that requires pulse dialing (sometim es referred to as rotary dialin g). If y ou need to enter tone di aling di gits, you can switch to ton e di aling d uring th e call.
BASICS [39] www.uniden.com Privacy Mode Privacy prevents interruption fr om other registered han dsets or the base. This works only when th e phone is in us e . 1) Press th e MENU soft k ey on the handset or base during talk mode . 2) Press volume up/ down to move the pointer to Privac y Mode and then th e OK soft k ey .
[40] BASICS www.uniden.com When speak ing on the base 1) Press t alk/flash or speaker on the han dset to initi ate the 3 or 4- conferen ce call. 2) T o hang up, r eturn the han dset to th e cradle , or press end on the handset. The base will still be connected to the call.
PHONEBOOK [41] www.uniden.com Phonebook (S toring Phone Nu mbers, Names, Distinctive Rings and Speed Dial) Y o u can store names an d numbers in you r phon e’s phonebook, search for nam es alphabetically , and dial phonebook entri es with just a few key presses.

CALLER ID [49] www.uniden.com Caller ID and CIDCW (Caller ID on Call W aiting) Y o u must subscribe to C aller ID s ervices through your local telephone provi der to use t h ese feat ur es . When the telephon e rings , the Caller ID feature allows you to view the caller’s nam e , phone n umber , date and time o f call.
