Quick Start Installation If your pr oduct shipped with a Quick Star t storage card, just follow these simple steps to get started with CoPilot. Otherwise skip to the Install From CD section below . (1) Ensure y our P ock et PC is fully charged and pow ered on .

Getting Star ted - Har dw ar e Both your desktop/la ptop and your P ock et PC must be turned on. The cradle/cable for y our mobile device must be connected to y our desktop/laptop computer through either the USB or Serial por t.
Uninstalling a Pr e vious V ersion If you ha ve been using an earlier version of P ocket CoPilot, you must uninstall the application and its data befor e installing CoPilot.
- 7 - F or Na vMan GPS Jack et Users If you ar e using this software with the Na vMan GPS Jacket (the jack et will hav e the wor d NA VMAN molded into the back of it and has a conical antenna), you must also install driv ers for the jack et separately .
Adding a Da ta Region If you ha ve pur chased an additional data region after y our initial purchase of CoPilot, you will need to modify the original (“Base”) installation and activate the new r egion. IMPOR T ANT : Y ou can only use y our Expansion Product K ey AFTER you ha ve installed CoPilot with a Base Product K ey .
Softw ar e Activ ation NO TE: CoPilot won’ t open on your P ocket PC unless map data has pre viously been downloaded fr om CoPilot on the desktop. T o launch CoPilot, first turn on your Pock et PC , attach the GPS receiv er , and insert your QuickStart card (if pro vided).
Data Do wnload to Y our Pock et PC T o use CoPilot on your Pock et PC , you first need to download map data fr om your desktop or la ptop computer to your P ock et device. Y ou select the data to download fr om one or more r egions (“data areas”) that y ou specify in the CoPilot application on y our desktop.
Data Do wnload Step 2 : Choose a Data Selection Method After you specify a location wher e the data will be stored, you will be pr ompted to select a region on the ma p to download. CoPilot allows y ou to download data using one of the three methods described belo w .
Data Do wnload Step 3 : Select Your Data Use any of the methods co ver ed on the following pages ( City Radius , Map Area , or Tr i p ) to select one or more r egions and then download your data. Or , select a whole region to download using the Region option.

Impor ting Custom Places CoPilot’ s Custom Place Impor t Wizar d enables you to import addresses fr om your Outlook Contacts database, an Excel file , or text file . (If you ar e using another type of database or contact manager , you can export your contacts/ locations to an Excel or text file befor e importing them into CoPilot.

Addr ess Entr y NO TE: There is no need to enter a starting point. CoPilot uses GPS positioning to determine your location automaticall y . Addr ess entr y is a step-by-step process in which y ou enter the countr y or postal code, city , and house number/str eet name in separate screens.
Star t Driving! After entering one or more destinations, start driving and enjoy CoPilot’ s spok en instructions, continuously updated ma ps and ET A’ s, and automatic route recalculation ca pabilities. A text-only Driv er Safety Screen will r eplace the Map Screen when your speed exceeds 16 k.
Entering a Home Addr ess Entering a W ork Addr ess F a v ourites T ap a Fa vourite on the list to enter it as a destination. T o change which Fa vourite is assigned to the Home or Wo r k buttons, choose Options in the T ools menu and tap F a vourites (see T ools Menu Options , p.
Finding Points of Inter est - 35 - Map Pr e view of a POI: T o preview a POI on the ma p befor e you decide to enter it as a destination, highlight it on the match list and tap Map . In the ma p screen, a sliding bar lets you zoom the vie w in and out.
Intersection Contact Integr ation CoPilot allows y ou to link directly to P ocket Outlook to r etriev e address information. With just a few of quick taps of the stylus, you can enter a contact’ s home and/or work addr ess as your destination.

Itiner ar y Scr een - 42 - Driv er Safety/Map/Itiner ar y Scr eens NO TE: It is not safe to attempt to alter settings on your P ocket PC while y ou are driving.
Map Modes CoPilot gives y ou a choice of sev eral differ ent displa y modes for the Map Scr een: 3D P erspectiv e CoPilot’ s two-dimensional default displa y mode can be changed to a three-dimensional perspective based off an isometric camera angle.
T rip Editing and W a ypoints T o get to the Going T o screen fr om the guidance screens at an y time , tap the top or bottom of the screen to open the toolbar , then tap the Going T o button. From her e you can edit the current trip , add additional stops, or star t a new trip .
Detour F eatur e CoPilot’ s Detour Feature allows y ou to preview an alternate r oute before deciding whether or not to tak e it. Perf ect for situations in which traffic has suddenly slo wed ahead of y ou, the Detour Feature will generate an alternate route and tell y ou exactly how much distance the new r oute will add to your trip .
T ools Menu Options T ap the bottom of either the Map Screen or the Driver Saf ety Screen to access the menu bar . Then tap the pop-up T ools menu and select Options . More r outing options are: Av oid T olls — Check to a void tolls wher ev er possible and practical.

The GPS Menu Receiving signals-ON Receiving signals-OFF Open and Play GPS Tracks Select Receiving fr om the GPS menu to activate or deactivate GPS satellite reception. Receiving is active if it is check ed. T ap once to change the status. If Receiving is not check ed, CoPilot will be unable to pro vide driving instructions.

- 57 - Refer ence: Scr eens & T oolbars in Guidance Mode on Y our P ock et PC The following is a summary guide to the screens and toolbars y ou will see on your Pock et PC as you operate CoPilot in Guidance Mode.
Select Stop Screen No GPS Signal When you see this scr een it means that CoPilot is not receiving data fr om the GPS unit. 1) Check that all your connections ha ve been made corr ectly , and that all wires ar e secure. 2) Mak e sure y our receiv er is plugged into your v ehicle's pow er source.
Map Screen The Map Scr een displa ys when you ar e tra veling at less than 16 k.p .h. or are at a standstill. It combines a large map displa y and concise text instructions. When you’ re within 1 kilometer of a turn, CoPilot automatically switches to the map .
- 64 - T rip Planning on Y our P ock et PC Y ou can use CoPilot on your P ocket PC for trip planning whether or not the GPS receiv er is connected and receiving data. Planning Mode allows you to run a trip on your P ocket PC ev en when you'r e not in your car .
T rip Planning on Y our Desktop Y ou can use CoPilot's desktop functions to map out r outes and print maps and driving dir ections before getting on the r oad. Desktop trip planning is an additional featur e of CoPilot that is in no wa y connected to using your Pock et PC for r oute guidance.
- 67 - Print button or P P r r i i n n t t . . . . . . in the File menu. T akes y ou to the standard Windows Print options for printing the activ e window that contains your ma p or driving directions. Activate the map or dir ections by clicking on it or selecting it in the Windo w menu.
Zoom In button or Z Z o o o o m m I I n n in the Map menu. Each time you click this button, your view will be zoomed in by one increment. The zoom lev el is shown in the title bar of the map window . Zoom Out button or Z Z o o o o m m O O u u t t in the Map menu.

Choices in the sub-menu will depend on which CoPilot data region(s) wer e pur chased. Refresh Ma p button or R R e e f f r r e e s s h h M M a a p p in the Map menu.

Trip Planner Window (Points of Interest) Trip Planner Window (Favourites) Click P oints of Interest t ab. Enter a city or postal code in which you w ould lik e to search, a radius within which to search, choose a categor y and type from the dr op-down menu, and click the binoculars to search.
Routing Options Trip Summary Click the Options button in the T rip Planner window to access CoPilot routing options. Auto and Quick est is the default setting, and provides the quick est routing f or automobiles based on practical considerations such as road quality , terrain, and urban/ rural classifications.
CoPilot Liv e Communications CoPilot Live allo ws you to maintain tw o-wa y communication with driv ers who are using CoPilot and to actually see wher e they ar e currentl y located. Y ou can do this using a computer with CoPilot installed or from our CoPilot Liv e web page.
Live Mode - Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) Live Mode - Send/Receive Messages T o send a message to the driver , click the Send Messag e button on the toolbar or right click on the vehicle and select Send Messa ge fr om the pop-up window . Click your cursor in the space just belo w the Standard Response Buttons , and begin typing.
Live Mode - Send Trip Itinerary Updates T o send a T rip Itinerar y Update to the driver , click the New T rip button on the toolbar and create a trip itinerary in the T rip Planner window just as y ou would in Planning Mode (see p .
Pocket PC Setup for Live Web Tracking If you w ould lik e access to CoPilot’ s Live Network on the W eb so that your friends, family , and co-work ers can message and track you from an ywhere in the world, you’ll need to set up y our Pock et PC for web tracking.
Driving with Live - Receive Trip Itinerary Updates - 88 - When you ar e the driver and a T rip Itinerar y Update is sent to you, CoPilot Live displa ys it on top of all other windows. If y ou ha ve CoPilot Liv e's text-to-speech engine installed, you will hear the itinerar y updates spoken out loud.
