11 Basic Operation ︱ Charging the Battery Plug the small end of t he USB cable i nto the Mini USB port on the bo t tom of the M P850, and plug the large en d of the cable into an available USB port on your desktop or notebook computer. The MP8 50’s internal Li-ion battery will automatically begin chargin g.
12 Play a Song Press the button to play a selected musi c, video, pho to, E-book, or reco rding file. Pause a Song Press t o pause and un-pause a song, recordin g , or video during play back. Next Track Press to skip to the next avai lable song. Previous Track Press t o go back to the previous song.
13 File Navigator The File Nav igator is a fast and conve nient way of moving between trac ks, files and folders. 2. Press and hold the button in the M USIC , RECO RD , VIDEO , PHOTO , or E-book mode t o open the File Navigator. 3. A l ist o f av ailable files for the current mode w ill be shown.

15 MUSIC Mode ︱ Before buying DRM (Digital Rights M anagement) protected music online, p lease be advised that the MP850 only suppo rt s WMA -DRM10 file protection. Play MP3, WMA and WMA-DRM10 Music 1. Press and hold to pow er ON the unit. The M ain Menu will appear.
16 Playlists For quick and easy playback of your favorite songs, the MP850 support s, M3U, PLA, and W PL playlist formats, and also include s a built-in user editabl e playli st (My Playlist). 1. In the MUSIC mode , press and hold the button , then highlight Play list s and press .

19 RAD IO M ode ︱ Listen to the Radio 1. Plug in the earphones . (Earphones must be pl ugged-in to listen to the Ra dio) 2. Press the button to enter the Mai n Menu. 3. Use the and buttons to select “Radio” and press . 4. The current FM Radio frequency w ill be displayed.

Saving a Radio Station The MP85 0 lets you save (preset) yo ur 20 favorite radio stations (CH01 to CH2 0). To save a station: 1. Use or to select the radio station (FM frequenc y) that you w ant to save.

22 RECORD Mode ︱ The MP850 can record from 2 differen t sources: FM Radio or the buil t-in microphone. The REC ORD mode is for creating voice recordings and playing back both FM and voice recordings. T o record from the FM Ra dio, please see the prev ious section on “ Record ing the Radio .

Equalizer (EQ) Mode There are seve ral EQUA LIZER M odes to choose fr om: No rmal, P op, Rock, Classi cal, Jazz , Bass, User EQ.

29 Record Quality The quality of an audio recording can be set to Low (8,000Hz), Middle (16,000Hz), or High ( 32,000Hz ). Higher recording quality settings require more memory space to save the recorded WA V f iles. 1. In the SETT INGS menu, Use the and buttons to select “Reco rd Quality” and press .

31 Sleep Timer This function set s a time del ay to automatically power OFF the M P850, regardless of play back statu s. 1. In the SETT INGS menu, Use the and buttons to select “Sleep Timer” and press . 2. Use and to select a S leep T imer delay and press .
32 2. Use and to select a Screen Saver delay time and pr ess . The screen saver will com mence whenever this amount of time passes w ith no button activi ty. The availa ble delay times are: “ Disable ” , “ 10 Sec ” , “ 20 Sec ” , and “ 60 Sec .
33 Lyrics Sync This function display s synchronized ly rics (if available) on the screen durin g music play back. Note: For Ly r ics Sync to work, an “.LRC” file with the exact same f ile name as its corresponding .MP3 song must be transferred to the MP8 50.

35 Daylight Saving Time If yo ur region uses Daylight Saving Time ( DST), the MP 850 can automatically adj ust the clock one hour forward in Summer and one hour bac kward during W inte r . 1. In the SETT INGS menu, use the and buttons to select “Day light Saving Time” and press .
36 FM Reset This function reset s all saved radio stations (CH0 1 – CH20). If you use this feature, the next time you enter the RADIO mode, the MP850 w ill automatically scan and save the 20 stronges t stations. 1. In the SETT INGS menu, use the and buttons to select “FM Reset” and press .

38 Driver Inst allation ︱ Driver Installation for Windows Me, 2000, XP and Vista No dr ivers are r equired. T hese W indow s ® Oper ating Systems have built-in drivers to support the M P850. Plug your MP850 into an avail able USB port and W indow s ® will install t he necessary f iles.
39 Connecting to a Computer ︱ Transferring Files to the MP850 If you want to use your M P850 to do more than listen to the radio, you must transfer MP3 / W MA / DRM10 music files, JPG / BMP pictures, MTV movies or TXT f iles to the MP 850.

48 PC-Lock W ith PC -Lock, yo u can use your M P850 as a key to temporarily lock your computer w hile yo u are away . 1.
