Fo r example, on the 53-key keypad, th e display backlight icon is blue indicating that the blue function key must be selected first to access the display backlight.

It also allows you to select prog rams and close screens.

Operatin g 2-33 Using Pop-up Menus With pop-up menus, you can quickly choose an acti o n for an item. For example, use the pop-up menu in the contact list to delete a contact, make a copy of a c ontact, or send an e-mail message to a contact. The actions in the pop-up menus vary from program to program.

Operatin g 2-43 Recording a Message Y ou may reco rd a message to capture thoughts, remin ders, and phone numbers. In Calenda r , T asks, and Contacts, you can include a recordin g in the Notes tab. In the Notes p rogram, you can either create a stand-alone reco rding or include a reco rding in a written note.

Operatin g 2-45 Entering Data An integrated bar code scanner or imager on the mo bile computer can scan data into data fields, using a scan or image applicatio n, in the same way data is entered via the keyboard. In addition, mobile computers with an inte grated imager can capt ure and store still images.

Operatin g 2-47 Operational Modes Mobile computers with a n integrated imager have two modes of operatio n: Decode Mode and Image Capture Mode. Bo th modes ar e activated by pulling the trigger . Decode Mode In this mode, u pon pulling the trigge r , the Imager attempts to locate and decode enabled bar codes within its field of view .

An application may use different scanning procedures from the one listed above. Scan LED Indicator The Indicator LED bar on the mobile computer provi des a visual indication of the scan status.
Operatin g 2-51 Resetting the Mobile Computer If the mobile computer stops resp onding to input, reset it. There are two res et functions, warm boot and cold boot.
