Chapter 2: Installation 2-15 Power Button The Power Button connection is located on pi ns 1 and 2 o f JF1. M ome nta ril y contacting both pins will power on/off the system. T o turn off the power when set to suspe nd mode, press the button for at least 4 seconds.
2-16 X9SCV -Q User's Manual 4-pin 12V Power Source (OEM Option) The 4-pin 12V Power Source on J9 is used to provide power to devices such as hard disks & CD-ROM drives. This power connector supports 12V and 5V devices. Do NOT con nect the power supply to this connector .

2-22 X9SCV -Q User's Manual TPM Header This header is used to connect a T rusted Plat - form Module (TPM ), available from a third-party vendor . A TPM is a security device that allows encryption and au thentication of hard drives.
Chapter 2: Installation 2-23 2-6 Jumper Settings Explanation of Jumpers T o modify the operation of the motherboard, jumpers can be used to choose between optional settings. Jumpers create shorts between two pins to change the function of th e connector.

Chapter 2: Installation 2-25 CMOS Clear JBT1 is used to clear CMOS. Instead of pins, this "jumper" consists of contact pads to pre - ven t a ccid enta l c lear ing of C MOS. T o clear CMOS, us e a metal object such as a s mall screwdriver t o touch both pads a t the same time to short the connection.
2-26 X9SCV -Q User's Manual A USB W ake-up A USB Wake-Up Use the JPUSB1 jumper to enable system "wake-up" via a US B device . T his jump er al lo ws y ou t o "wa ke -u p" t he s ys te m by pressing a key on the USB keyboard or by clicking the USB mouse of your system.

Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-1 Chapter 4 BIOS 4-1 Introduction This chapter describes the AMI BIOS Setup Utility for your motherboard . The AMI ROM BIOS is st ored i n a Flash EEPROM and can be e asily updated. This chapt er describes the basic navigation of the AMI BIOS Setup Utility setup screens.
4-2 X9SCV -Q User's Manual How to Start the Setup Utility Normally , the only visible Power-On Self-T est (POST) routine is the memory test. As the memo ry is being test ed, press the <D elete> key to en ter the main menu of the AMI BIOS Setup Utility .
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-3 System Overview: The following BIOS information will be displayed: System Time/Syst em Date Use this option to change the system time and date. Highlight System T ime or Sys - tem Date using the arro w key s. En ter new v alues through the keyboard.

Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-7 P-ST A TE Coordination This feature selects the type o f coordination for the P-State of the proc essor . P- State is a processor operational state that reduces the p rocessor's voltage and frequency . This makes the processor more energy eficient, resulting in further gains.

Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-9 BIOS EHCI Hand-Off This item is for Operating Systems that does not support Enhanced Host Con - troller Interface (EHCI) hand-off. When enabled, EHCI ownership change will be claimed by the EHCI driver. The settings are Enabled and Disabled.
4-10 X9SCV -Q User's Manual Spin Up Device If this feature is enabled, the PCH starts a COMRESET initialization sequence to the device during an edge detect from 0 to 1.
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-1 1 Load Onboard LAN1/LAN2 Option ROM This feat ure enables o r disables th e onboard RO M option for LAN1 and LA N2. The options are Disabled and Enabled. Super IO De vice Cong uration Serial Port 1 / Serial Port 2 Select Enabled to enable the onboard serial port.
4-12 X9SCV -Q User's Manual Resolution 100x31: Disabled or Enabled Legacy OS Redirection Resolution: 80x24 or 80x25 Out-of-Band Mgmt Port Use this feature to select which port to activate Microsoft Windows Emergency Management Services (EMS). The options are COM1 , COM2 and C OM3 (PCI Dev0,Func0) .
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-13 Medium – The processor is running warmer . This is a ‘precautionary’ level and generally means that there may be factors contri buting to this condition, but the C PU is still within its normal operating state and below the CPU ‘T empe rature T olerance’.
4-14 X9SCV -Q User's Manual PS/2 KB/MS Wake Up This feature is used to congure the PS/2 mouse or PS/2 keyboard wake up set - ting. The options are S1 (OS Control) , S5 (OS Cont rol), Force Enable and Force Disable.
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-15 Intel TXT(L T) Conguration Secure Mode Extensions (SMX) This feature can be congured if it is supported by the processor . Enable this feature to activate Intel TXT , below . The options are Enabled and Disabled.
