IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1 Doors and locks 1-7 – CONTINUED – J Child safety locks HG0267 Unlock Lock W ARNING Always use the child safety lock whenever a child rides in the rear seat. Serious injury could result if a child accidentally opened the door and fell out.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-8 Door open warning lights HG0336 The door open warning light comes on if any door is not fully closed. Always make sure this light is out befor e star ting to drive. Keyless entry system (if equipped) CAUTION D Do not expose the transmitter to severe shocks, such as those experienced as a result of dropping or throwing.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1 Doors and locks 1-9 – CONTINUED – The keyless entry system has following functions. D Locking and unlocking the doors (and rear gate on the wagon) with- out a key D Arming and disar ming the security system (if your vehicle is equipped with an optional security system).
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-10 T o unlock all doors (and the rear gate on the wagon), press and hold the “UNLOCK” button. The parking lights will flash one time. The vehicle’ s interior (cour tesy) light will illuminate for 60 seconds or until vehicle is started.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1 Doors and locks 1-1 1 – CONTINUED – J Adding or deleting remote transmitters Up to four (4) transmitters can be programmed to your keyless entry sys- tem. NOTE Make sure no one else is operating another keyless entry or security sys- tem within range of your vehicle when you are pr ogramming remote transmitters.

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1 Doors and locks 1-13 – CONTINUED – B Passive starter interrupt (if selected) The vehicle starter is automatically disabled one minute after the igni- tion is turned off, even if the system has not been armed with your remote transmitter .
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-14 J Security system components B The remote transmitter The remote transmitter controls the featur es and options of the secu- rity system. HS1000CB The security system can be programmed to operate with one to four remote transmitters.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1 Doors and locks 1-15 – CONTINUED – LED status Off: System is disarmed. Double-Flash: System is in valet mode. Steady Flash: System is armed. Fast Flash: System has been triggered. On: System is in pre-arm state (and will arm when all doors are closed).

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-18 B Personal protection alarm (Panic) HS1000BC Pressing both buttons together on the r emote transmitter activates the Panic feature, sounding the sir en and flashing the parking lights. Panic is designed to bring attention to the vehicle and surrounding area.

J T o open and close the rear gate OM-H0019 Lock Unlock T o unlock the rear gate, insert the key in the keyhole and tur n it clock- wise.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-28 Fuel filler door and cap W ARNING D Gasoline vapor is highly flammable. Before refueling, always first stop the engine and make sure that there are no lighted ciga- rettes, open flames or electrical sparks in the adjacent area.

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-30 Engine hood W ARNING Always check that the hood is properly locked before you start driving. If it is not, it might fly open while the vehicle is moving, blocking your view which may cause an accident and serious bodily injury .
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1 Doors and locks 1-31 – CONTINUED – T o close the hood: 1. Lift the hood slightly and remove the hood pr op from the slot in the hood and return the prop to its r etainer . 2. Lower the hood until it approaches about 6 in. (15 cm) fr om the closed position and let it drop.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-32 OM-H0027 B T o open the sunroof Push the rear side of the switch marked “ Y ”, and the sunr oof will tilt up. Release the switch once and push it again to slide the sunroof open.

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 1-34 Roof rack (if equipped) CAUTION When using the roof rack, make sure that the total carrying ca- pacity of the roof rack and luggage does not exceed the maxi- mum load limit. Overloading may cause damage to the vehicle and create a safety hazard.

(E) 1 Doors and locks 1-35 – CONTINUED – J Installing carrying attachments on the cross bars When installing any carrying attachment such as a bike carrier , ski carri- er , canoe carrier , etc. on the cr oss bars, follow the manufacturer’ s instructions and make sure that the attachment is secur ely fixed to the cross bars.

D Never drive the vehicle with the head restraints removed be- cause they are designed to reduce the risk of serious neck injury in the event that the vehicle is struck from the rear .

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2 Seat, seat belt and SRS AIRBAG 2-5 – CONTINUED – J Head restraint adjustment HS0031 T o raise the head restraint, pull it up. T o lower it, push the head restraint down while depressing the r elease button on the top of the seatback.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2-6 For access to the rear seat, pull up the r eclining lever at the right side of the passenger’ s seat cushion. The seat back will recline forward fully , al- lowing you to access to the rear seat. For egress fr om the rear seat, depress the r eclining pedal at the back of the passenger’ s seat cushion.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2 2 Seat, seat belt and SRS AIRBAG 2-7 – CONTINUED – D Never stack luggage or other cargo higher than the top of the seatback because it could tumble forward and injure passengers in the event of a sudden stop or accident.

Move the front seat forwar d. 2. Store the seat belts in the seat belt pocket to pr event them falling below the cushion.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2 Seat, seat belt and SRS AIRBAG 2-9 – CONTINUED – OM-H0040 4. Unlock the seatback by pulling the release knob and fold it down. Confirm that the pin located at the bottom of the seat cushion is in- serted into the slot at the top of the seatback.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2-10 3-point type seat belts (Combination lap/shoulder belts) W ARNING D Never use a belt that is twisted or reversed. In an accident, this can increase the risk or severity of injury . D Never place the shoulder belt under the arm or behind the back.

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2-12 J Seat belt warning light and chime HG0340 Y our vehicle is equipped with a seat belt warning device at the driver’ s seat. This device causes the seat belt warning light on the instrument panel to light up for about six seconds when the ignition switch is turned to “ON” to remind the driver to wear the seat belt.
IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2 Seat, seat belt and SRS AIRBAG 2-13 – CONTINUED – J Fastening the seat belt CAUTION Metallic parts of the seat belt can become very hot in a vehicle that has been closed up in sunny weather; they could burn an oc- cupant. Do not touch such hot parts.

IMPREZA U.S.A. (E) 2 Seat, seat belt and SRS AIRBAG 2-17 – CONTINUED – HG0358 Always wear the seat belt correctly . Sit well back and upright. CAUTION Metallic parts of the seat belt can become very hot in a vehicle that has been closed up in sunny weather; they could burn an oc- cupant.

Otherwise, the possibility of se- rious injury becomes greater in the event of a sudden stop or ac- cident.

The passenger cannot protect the child from injury in a collision, because the child will be caught between the passenger and objects inside the vehicle.

HS0229 HS0228 Never allow a child to stand up, or to kneel on the front passenger ’ s seat or any other seat. Never hold a child on your lap or in your arms in the front passenger ’ s seat or any other seat.
