15 Recording a disc right away! This section ex plains the bas ic pro cedu r e fo r m aki ng di gi ta l reco rdi n gs us i ng an optical cable connected to a C D player , Digital TV or oth er digital equipment. Mak e sure to use the optical cable. 1 Connect the optical cable t o the recor der and an external component.

The playbac k soun d may skip if: • the recor der r ece ives stronger co nti nuous shock. • a dirty or scr at ch ed disc is pla ye d. When usin g a disc in Hi-MD mode, the sound may drop out fo r a ma xim um of about 12 seconds.

27 Selecting the r ecor ding mode Sele ct each recor ding mo de acc ording to the recording time that you want. Discs r eco rded in Hi-MD or MD (MDLP) mode c an be played back only on MD pl ayers or recorders with Hi-MD or MD (MDLP) pla yback mode. 1 While the rec order is stop ped, e nter the m en u and se lect “R E C Se t” - “REC Mode” .

49 Dividing a track (Divide) Y ou can divide a trac k wi th a track mark , crea ting a new track f rom the part follo wing the trac k mark. The track numbers will increase as follows. • Y ou cannot add a tr ack mark on a track th at has been transfe rred f rom yo ur com puter.

72 Y ou can not tra nsfe r tracks that will f ill up the remai ning recordi ng ti m e on the disc. • The mi nimum reco rdable tim e on a disc is normally 2 seconds in stereo, 4 secon ds in LP 2 stere o mode, and 8 sec on ds in LP4 stereo mode.
73 The re corder does not work or works poorly . • The disc i s dama ged or does not co ntain proper reco rding or ed iting data. , Reinsert the disc. Rer ecord the disc. If the error message stil l appear s, replac e it wit h an other di sc. • There i s a bu ilt-in malfu nction in the system.

78 Explanations About Hi-MD “Hi-MD” is a new Mi niDisc format. Incorpora ting the new A T RAC3plus audio c ompress ion tec hnology , Hi- MD is a new recording form at that del ivers longer re cording times than or dinary MDs. Hi -MD dis cs ca n also be used as a comput er storage medi um for non-a udi o data such as text and im ages.
