This manual gi v es advice includ ing operating instructions, for tasks you should perform before you make printouts using this pr inter after you purchase it.
Introductio n System O verview / Lo cation an d Function of Parts and Cont rols 6 System Overview The Sony LPR -1000MD is an ink jet printer which is equipped with a high- speed line shot. The LPR-1000MD has the following features. High-speed line shot The printer is eq uipped with a high-speed line shot.
Introductio n Location a nd Function of P ar ts and Con trols 7 F Operation panel A 1 ON/ST AND BY button/indicator (9, 10) Used to switch the printer to on or to standb y status. When the ON/ST ANDBY button is set to o n, the po wer is on and the indica tor lights in green.

Note Be sure not to set the main po wer switch to the OFF ( a ) side directly . Set the printer to standby mode once, and then set the main po wer switch t o the OFF ( a ) side.
Preparation Prepari ng Pa per 11 Preparing P aper Recommended Paper Be sure to use th e paper recommended. It is required to perform se ttings of Paper on the Main tab in the Printing Pr eferences di alog box. For detailed information on settings for pa per , see “Settings for Paper” on page 17.

Operat ion Useful Func tions 27 Adding ne w stamps Sev en kinds of stamp character strings hav e already been registered as defaults. Y ou can add new stamps using the Add/Remove Stamp dialog. 1 Click the [Function] tab on the Printing Preferences dialog box.
Operat ion Useful Func tions 28 The Add/Remove Stamp dialog box appears. 6 Add a ne w stamp. When a stamp character string is added: 1 Enter the name of the charac ter string which you want to add as a stamp in the [Add] text box. 2 Click the [Add] b utton, and the n click the [Back] b utton.
Operat ion Useful Func tions 29 Specify the bitmap f ile t o be used, and then click the [Open] b utton. Notes • Y ou cannot register the same stamp name twice. • The number of bitmap f iles that you c an register is not limited. • Y o u can register and use ar e 1, 4, 8 an d 24 bit bitmap data.
Operat ion Useful Func tions 30 Click [ V ] at the right of the list an d select the desired stamp character string from the list. Y ou can embed a new cha racter string as a stamp. For detailed inf ormation on how to add a charact er string, see “ Adding ne w stamps” on page 27.
Operat ion Useful Func tions 31 7 Click the [OK] bu tton on the Printin g Prefere nces dialog box. The settings for the stamp ch aracter string to be embedded are sa ved. Embedding graphic data (bitmap file) as a stamp Y ou can use a bitmap file as a stamp by specifyi ng a bitmap file.
