Chapter 2: Software I nstallation 5 Chapter 2 Software Installation This chapter describes how to inst all the USB Wire less LAN Card driver and utility . Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP use the same setup program; h owever , operation system-specific situation may occur during or after the installatio n process.

When you succeed in installing the driver , you will see a logo indicating the wire less s ignal s trengt h at a lower right corner of the toolbar on desktop, after you resta rt your compute r . 17 Alternatively , you may check if this adapter is successfully insta lled through Dev ice Manager of your compu ter .

The utility also in clude s a number o f tools to d ispla y cu rrent sta tistics and status information pert aining to your Wireless LAN Card.

Chapter 3: Utility Configuration 17 The following table describes the items found on the Current S t atus screen. Profi le N am e The name o f the c urrent s elect ed conf i gurat ion prof ile. Set up t he configuration name by clicking New or Modify on the Prof ile Management tab.

Configure the network name by clicking New or Modify on th e Profile Management tab. Server Based Authentication Shows whether server-based authentication is used.

Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter 20 General T ab In the Utili ty , access the Gen eral t ab by clickin g New or Modify on the Profile M anagement tab. Edi t the fi elds in t he Gener al tab to con figu re the configurat ion profile. Make sure to also edit the Security and Advanced ta bs.
Chapter 3: Utility Configuration 21 Edit the fields in th e Sec urity tab of Profile Mana gement to configure the profile. To define the security mode, se lect the ra dio bu tton of the desired security mo de. Make sure to also ed it the General and Advanced tabs.
