16 9 Bringing up t he WLR-4000 Connect the su ppl ied power-adapter to the p ower in let port and conn ect it to a wall o utlet. Switch on the p ower via the swit ch on the back of the devic e. The WLR - 4000 automatica lly ent ers the self-test phase.

18 L A N setting s The LAN tab g ives you the o pportunity to chan ge the IP settin gs of t he WLR - 4000. Click <Ap ply> at the bottom of t his sc reen to s ave any change s. IP address 1 92.1 68.0.1. It i s the router’s LAN IP address (Y our L AN cli ents default gateway IP address).
19 Lease T ime Forever . In the Lease Time settin g you can spec ify the t ime peri od that the DHCP lends an IP addr ess to your LA N cli ents. The DH CP wi ll change your LAN cli ent’s IP address when this time thr eshol d period is reache d.
20 Device Status View the Broadband router’s current c onfi guration settings. D evice Status displ ays the configuration setti ngs yo u’ve confi gured in the Wizard / Basic Settings / Wirel ess Sett ings se ction.
21 Internet Status This page disp lays w hether the WAN port is co nnected to a Cable/DSL connecti on. It al so d ispl ays the router’s W AN IP ad dress, Su bnet Mask, and ISP Gateway as wel l as MA C address, t he Primary DNS. Press the Renew butto n to renew your WAN IP address.
22 DHCP Client St atus This pag e shows al l DH CP clients (LAN PCs) currently c onnected to y our network . The tabl e shows the as sig ned IP addres s, MA C address and expiration tim e for each DHCP leas ed cli ent. U se the Refresh button to up date t he av ail able informatio n.

28 Basic Se ttings Mode Allo ws you to set AP or WDS mode. Band All ows you to set the AP fi xed at 802. 11b or 802.1 1g mode. Y ou c an also s elect B +G mode to a ll ow 8021 1b an d 802.1 1g cl ients at the same t ime. Enable SSID # Allow s you to enable u p to four SSIDs for t his rout er .
29 Advanc ed Setti ngs This tab al lows you to s et the adv anced w ireless opti ons. T he op tions i ncluded are A uthenticati on T ype, Fr agment Threshol d, R TS Threshol d, Beacon Interval, an d Preambl e T ype. Y ou s houl d n ot c hange these parame ters unl ess you know what ef fect th e changes w il l have on the router .
30 Beacon Interval i s the i nterv al of t ime that thi s w ireless ro uter broadcasts a beacon. A B eacon is used to sync hronize the wir eless network. Data Rate The “Data Rate” is t he rate that thi s access poi nt uses t o transmit data packets.
31 Security This A ccess Point provi des compl ete wi reless L AN security fu nctions, i ncluded are WEP , IEEE 8 02.11x, IE EE 802. 11x w ith WEP , WPA with pre- shared key and W P A with RADIU S. W ith th ese security fu nctions, you can prevent your wirel ess LAN from i llega l access.
32 Disable When yo u c hoose to disabl e en cryption, it is very insec ure to operate the router . Enable 802.1x A uth IEEE 802.1 x is an a uthenticat ion protocol . Every us er must use a valid account to l ogin to th is Access Point b efore accessi ng t he wire less LAN.
33 WEP When you select 64-bit or 128-bit WEP key , you have to enter WEP keys to encrypt data. Y ou can generate the key by yourself and enter it. You can enter four W EP keys and select one of them as a default key . Then th e router can receive any packets encrypted by one of t he fo ur keys.

40 DMZ If you have a cl ient PC that cann ot run an Int ernet a ppli cation (e. g. Games) properly from behi nd the NA T f irewal l, th en you can open up th e fi rewall restricti ons to u nrestricted two-way I nternet access by defin ing a DMZ Host.
41 Denial of Servi ce (DoS) The Broadband router's firewal l can bl ock common hacker attacks, i nclu ding Denial of Servi ce, Pi ng of Deat h, Port Scan and S ync Flo od.
