Introduction Thank you for pur chasing the Sitecom WLX-2003 Wall Mount Range Extende r N300. With this product you can ea sily double the signa l coverage of y our Wi-Fi network for better Wi-Fi qual ity in homes with many rooms or multiple floors.

4 PRODUCT L AYOUT Description Network Port You can use this port to connect a wired de vice so it benefits from the repeated signal. OPS Button You can use this button to c onnect using OPS. 5 NETWORK + S YSTEM REQUI REMENT S To begin using the WLX- 2003, make sure you me et the following as m inimum requirement s: • PC/Notebook. • 1 Free Ethernet port. • WiFi card/USB d ongle (802.11 b/ g/n) – optional. • PC with a Web-Browser (Internet Explorer, Safa ri, Firefox, Oper a) • Ethernet compatib le CAT5 cables.
7 PC NETWORK ADAPTE R SET UP Windows XP • Enter [Start Menu] -> s elect [Control panel] -> select [Networ k]. • Select [Local Area Conn ection]) icon -> select [properties] • Select [Internet P rotoco l (TCP/IP)] =>Click [Properties].
• Select the [General] tab. The device support s the [DHCP] function, please s elect both [Obtain an IP address automatically] and [Obtain DNS server address automatical ly]. Windows Vista/Sev en • Enter [Start Menu] -> s elect [Control panel] -> select [View network status and tasks] -> select [Manag e network connections].

8 BRINGING UP THE W LX-2003 You can plug the WLX-2003 directly into a wall outlet. Switc h the device on with the power switch located on the bottom of the device. The WLX-2003 automatical ly enters the self-test phase. Du ring self-test phase, the Pow er LED will be lit cont inuously to indicate that th is product is in normal operation.
9 INITIAL SETUP W LX-2003 LOGIN proce dure 1. OPEN your browse r (e.g. Internet Explor er). 2. Type http://192.168.128.253 in the address ba r and press [ Enter] 3.
5. You will see the home page of the WLX-2003. The System status section allows you to monitor the cur rent status of your d evice, the UP time, hardware information, s erial number as well as firmware ver sion information is disp layed here.
10 CONFIGU RATION WIZ ARD With the wizard you can configure the Range Extender to connect to y our existing network. Click Wizard to start c onfiguring the WLX-2003. The Setup wizard will now be displayed. On the first page you can select the netw ork that the Range Extender need s to connect to.
On this last page you will see the new settings of y our Range Extender. You can use these settings on your computer to connect to t he Range Extender. You can use the “Copy to Clipboard” button to copy the wireless passw ord to your clipboard so you don’t have to type it in.
11 BASIC SE TTINGS Band Please select the wireles s band you wish to use. By selecting a different band setting, you’ll be able to allow or deny the wireless clients on a certain band. MAIN ESSID Please input the ESSID (the name us ed to identify this wireless access point) here .
Site Survey Click ‘Site Survey’ button, then a “Wireless Site Survey Table” will pop up. It will l ist all avai lable access points nearby. You can select one acces s point in the table and the access point will join w ireless LAN through this access point.
12 ADVANCED SETTINGS Security This device provides many type s of wireless s ecurity (wireless data encryption). When you use data enc ryption, data transferr ed by ra dio signals in the air wi ll become unreadable for those people who don’t kn ow the co rrect enc ryption key (encryption password).
Key Length You can select the W EP key length for encryption, 64-bit or 128-bit. The larger the key will be the higher level of s ecurity is used, but the throughput wil l be lower.
WPA WPA Unic ast Ciphe r Suite Availab le options are: WPA (TK IP), WPA2 (AE S), and WPA2 Mixed. You can s elect one of them , but you have to make sure your wireless client supports the cipher you selected.
Advanced This tab allows you to set the advanced wireless options. The options included are Channel Bandwidth, Fragment Threshold, RTS Thresh old, Beacon Interv al, and Preamble Type. You should not ch ange these param eters unless you kn ow what effect the changes will have on th e router .
Preamble Ty pe Set the type of p reamble of wireles s radio. The default setting is ‘Short Preamble’. Broadcast ESSID Decide if the wireless access p oint wil l broadcast its own ESSID or not.
WPS Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) is the simplest way to establish a connection betwe en the wireless clients and the wireless route r. You don ’t have to select the encryption mode and fill in a long encryption passphrase every time when you try to set up a wireless connection.
Authenticat ion Mode It shows the a ctive authentication mode for the wireless connection. Passphra se Key It shows the pa ssphrase key that is randomly gene rated by the wireless router during the WPS proc ess. Yo u may need this information when using a device which doesn’t support WPS.
13 TOOLBOX SETT INGS System This device provides so me control functions including pas sword, IP address manag ement, and DHCP ser ver function. Please g o to Toolbo x, and open the ‘Syste m’ tab, to acce ss these functions. Below are detailed descriptions of ev ery control function.

Upgrade If there is a n ew firmware available, you can upload the firmwar e to the device to g et extra functions or p roblem fixes. Click the ‘Browse’ butto n. You’ll be prompted to pro vide the filename of the firmware upgrade file. Please download the latest firmwar e file from our w ebsite, and use it to upgrade your device .
Reset When you think the device is not wo rking properly, you can use this function to r estart the device; this may help and solve the pr oblem. This function is useful when the device is far fro m you or unreachable.
