Chapter 1: Double Chain S titch.
Double Chain S titch This stitch is suitable for straight seams. It also can be used for a decorative chainstitch topstitching e ffect. The Middle Cover needle and the Chainstitch Looper are used. Decorative thread can be placed in the Chainstitch Loo per, the needle, or in both to create various effects.

Double Chain S titch Turn Au to Tension D ial to “D”. Turn Stit ch Length Dial t o “N”. Disengag e Upper Knife. The knife will not trim the fabric when it is disengaged. 1. Open Looper Cover. 2. Pull the m ovable knife hold er (silver scre w ) to the right as far as it will go.
Turn Press er Foot Pressure Dial to “N”. Turn Diff erential Feed Dial “N”. Turn Seam Width Dial to “N”. Place Stitch Finger to “R”.
Install the Seam Guide Plate. The Seam Guide Plate provi des a flat surface for the fabric and se am guides. It can onl y be used when the knife and the lower looper are disengag ed. The Seam Guide Plat e is used when sewing the Chainstitch, Cover Stitch and the Triple Cover Sti tch.
Thread Chainstitch Looper wi th a decorative thread 1. Raise the Presser foot to release the tension di sks. Pa ss the thread from the back to t he front through the thread guide c . 2 . T h r e a d t h e t o p c o v e r t h r e a d g u i d e b y pulling the thread towards the left until it slip s under the guide.
4. Turn the hand wheel toward you until the Chainstitch Looper ext ends out 10mm (approximately ½ ”) from the needle plate edge. 5 . T h r e a d t h e l o o p e r a r e a o f t h e m a chine following the brown color-coded thread guide s 4-11. Us e the tweezers provided in the accessory case to aid in threading the looper.
Thread Middle Cover Stitch Needle with regular over lock thread. 1 . R a i s e t h e P r e s s e r F o o t t o r e l e a s e t h e te nsion disks. Thread the Cover S t i t c h M i d d l e / C h ain Stitch needle as illustrated 1-9. 2 . P a s s t h r e a d f r o m b a c k t o t h e f r o n t through the t hread guide c .
5 . C o n t i n u e t o t h r e a d p o i n t s 4-8. Slip the thread into the middle slot of the t h r e a d g u i d e g . Go over the take up lever h .
Fuse a layer of fabric to a lightweight batting. Fuse a fabric b acking to the other side of the batting, to c reate a quilted piece of fabric. Using a rin se-away fabric marking pen draw a design lines on the w rong side of the fabric.
When sewing the Double Chainstitc h, it is necessary to have fabric u nder the needl e. Avoid sewing off the fabric. Continue s ewing, followi n g the drawn marking. To remove fabric, gently turn handwheel to loosen threads. Turn fabric over t o see the decorative stitching.
Chapter 2: Tw o - T h r e a d W r a p p e d E d g e O v e r l o c k ( n a r r o w a n d w i d e ).
Tw o - T h r e a d W r a p p e d E d g e O v e r l o c k ( n a r r o w ) The Two-Thread Wrapped Edge Overlock provides an elegant fine finish t o lightweight fabrics. When using clear threads in c onjunction with the Two-Thread stitch, the fabric appears to have an invisible edge.

Engage Sp reader . The Upper Looper has a hole for the thread on the top of the looper. If th e stitch r equires that the looper be engaged, but not threaded th en the Spreader is u sed. The Spreader simpl y plugs-in (or closes) the looper’s hole.

Align two pieces of light weig ht fabric, right sides together so t hat the knife just sl ightly trims the fabric edge. Sew. Press seam to on e side.

Tw o - T h r e a d O v e r e d g e ( n a r r o w ) This stitch is used as a lightweight seam fi nish or a lightweight seam. When creating a seam finish, less thread is used and the thre ad does not imprint on the right side of the fabric when pressed.

Join two pieces of medium weight fabric, right sides together with a conventional sewing machine stra ight stitch. Finsh the edges of both fabric pieces by aligning the fabric edge so that the k nife just slightly trims the fabr ic edge. Sew.
Tw o - T h r e a d O v e r e d g e ( w i d e ) The Two-Thread Overedge (wide) is a good c hoice when sewing linens and wools. The Two-Thread Overedge (wide) has the sa me set up as the Two-Thread Over- edge (narrow) Stitch. The only exception is the Right Overedg e Needle is now un - threaded and removed and the Left Overedge Needle is threaded.

Chapter 4: Three-Thread Overlock (narrow , wide, and wide with decorative threads).
Three-Thread Overlock (narrow) The Three-Thread Overlock Stitch is the most commonly used stitch because of its versatility. It provides a wonderful professional seam finish to woven fab rics. It is beneficial in preventing loosely woven fabri cs from unraveling.

Chapter 5: Three-Thread Flatlock (narrow and wide).
Three-Thread Flatlock Narrow The Flatlock Stitch is used decoratively to achieve th e look of applied trim on a garment, craft or home decorator projects. Special decor at ive threads are used for a textured and dramatic embellishment effect. The Flatlock Stitch can also be used to serge non-bulky seams.
Needle : ATD : Auto Tension Dial “F” Left Cover Stitch Needle “C” Unthreaded and Remove Needle Middle Cover Stitch Needle “D” Unthreaded and Remove Needle Right Cover Stitch Needle “E”.
The Flatlock stitch, with fabric’s right sides together, f orm a ladder stitch. A ribbon can then be woven by hand in and out of the stitches. The ladder stitch is ideal for joining laces together, as seen in heirloom sewing.

Fold T-shirt in terlock fabric wrong si des together lengthwise. Align the f abric so that th e fabric’s fold is not being trimme d by the knife. Sew. Gently pull the fabr ic flat and press. Hint: If the fabric is not laying flat, align the fabric farther to the left of the knife.

Three-Thread Ul tra-Stretch Mock Safety Stitch This stitch stretches with the fabric, the seam will not break when the fabric is stretched. It is ideal for super-stretch kn its like those used on s wimwear or athlete clothing. This stitch us es two needles and one looper.
