1 Chapter 1 Introduction This C hapter provides an overview of the SpeedStream 4-Port DSL/ Cable Router's features and capabilities. Congratu lations on the purch ase of y our new SpeedStream DSL /Cable Rou ter, com mon ly referred to as a Broadb and Router.

6 Chapter 2 Installation This C hapter covers the physical installat ion of the SpeedStr eam DSL/Cable Router. Requirements • DSL or Cable m odem, and an Internet A ccess account w ith an ISP, for shared In ternet access.

Setup 9 Configurati on Program The DSL/Cable Rou ter contains an HT TP server. This enables y o u to conn ect to it, and config- ure it , using your W eb B rowser. Your B rowser m ust support JavaScript . The configur atio n program has been tes ted on th e followi ng brow sers: • Netscape V4.

Setup 15 DHCP What DHCP Does A DHCP ( Dynamic Host Co nfigurat ion P roto col) server allocates a valid IP address to a DHCP client (PC or device) upon request.

PC Configurat ion 29 Printer Setup for Window s The DSL/ Cable Router prov ides printin g su pport for 2 meth ods for printi ng from Windows : • Printer Port Driver. After in stalling the Printer Port Driver, Windows users can print directly to th e DSL/Cable Router.
