3 A PowerBroom operates at ver y high speeds and has the potential to do serious damage if misused, abused or mishandled. To reduce the risk of injur y , you must main - tain control at all times, and obser ve all safety precautions during operation.
4 T he Proper ly Equipped Operator Always operate with both hands rmly gripping the un it . Always protect yourself from hazards such as thorny brush and ying debris by wearing gloves and close tting clothing that covers arms and legs. Never wear shorts.

7 Adjustable Handle Installation Follow these instr uctions if you wish to use the PowerBroom’s adjustable handle instead of the loop handle on youlr power - head assembly . Remove the power head assembly’s loop handle. Remove both screws from the 1.
8 Assembly (continued) The PowerBroom tool should now be completely assembled. Push one of the dr um axles onto 1. either of the two gearcase output shafts. If necessar y , rotate the dr um axle until the clevis pin hole in the axle aligns with the matching hole in the gearcase output shaft.
9 Handling Fuel DANGER Fuel is VERY ammable. Use extreme care when mixing, storing or handling or serious personal injury may result. • Use an approved fuel container . • DO NOT smoke near fuel. • DO NOT allow ames or sparks near fuel. • Fuel tanks/cans may be under pressure.
10 Filling the fuel tank WARNING! Minimize the Risk of Fire Place the unit on a flat, level sur face. 1. Clear any dir t or other debris from around the fuel filler cap. 2. Remove the fuel cap, and fill the tank with clean, fresh fuel. 3. Reinstall the fuel filler cap and tighten fir mly .
11 Star ting the Engine While holding the outer tube fir mly 5. with left hand. Use your other hand to slowly pull the recoil star ter han- dle until resistance is felt, then pull quickly to star t the engine.
12 Idle the engine briefly before stopping (about 2 minutes), then slide the igni- tion switch to the “O” (Engine OFF) position. Stopping the Engine Adjusting Engine Idle Idle Adjusting Screw The engine must retur n to idle speed whenever the throttle lever is released.
13 Operating The PowerBroom works best when its r ubber fins can quickly slide or “skim” over the sur face being swept. New or replacement sweeper belts tend to grip or drag on hard sur faces, and should be thoroughly broken in or “scuf fed” before the broom is actually put to work.

15 spark plug gap--all models Remove and clean or replace the spark plug. Adjust the spark plug electrode gap ■ to 0.024 0.028 inch (0.6-0.7 mm). If the spark plug must be replaced, use only an Champion CJ8Y or NGK BPMR7A, or equivalent resistor type spark plug of the cor r ect heat range.
16 Gearcase Lubrication The gearcase should be filled with 60 cc (2.0 fl.oz.) of Mobil SHC634 Synthetic Gear Oil. A maximum of 75-80 cc can be used, but never to exceed 80 cc. Opera - tion with excessive oil level will result in high operating temperatures.
17 Maintenance (continued) Mufer Spark Arrester Mufer Maintenance WARNING! Never operate the unit with a damage or missing mufer or spark arrester! Operating with a missing or damaged spark arrester is a re hazard and could also damage your hearing.
18 T roubleshooting Guide V aporlock. Engine hot/heat soaked. Low fuel quality . Let cool completely and restar t. Refi ll with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 89 or higher mixed with an air cooled engine oil that meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD and/or JASO FD classifi ed oils at 50:1 gasoline/oil ratio.
