Removing a staple jam from the saddle stitch unit To remove a staple jam from the saddle stitch u nit, remove th e staple car tridge and th en follow the s teps below.
PUNCH MODULE A punch module can be installed to punch holes in output. To install a punch modu le, a finisher or saddle stit ch finisher is required. Discarding punch waste Punch waste from punched holes is collected in the punch waste box. Follow the steps below to discar d the punch waste.
INSERTER The inserter enables blan k sheets or printed she ets to be added to copy and print output as covers or inse rts without performing printing.
LOADING PAPER When loading paper in the inserter, load the pap er face up. Up to 100 sheet s can be inserted . If the paper has a t op edge and bot tom edge, load in the same top-b ottom orientat ion as the original. Adjust the pap er guide on th e paper tray to the width of the paper.
MANUALLY OPERATING THE INSERTER The inserter can be used for stapling or punching witho ut perfor ming a copy operation. These funct ions are selected at the operation pan el of the inserter. (1) [PUNCH] key ( ) When a punch module is installed on the finisher or saddle stitch finishe r, punch holes ca n be added to blank paper or printed paper.
Alarm display If the indicator of the [START] key ( ) is off or blinks af ter loading paper, op eration will not begin when the [START] key ( ) is pr essed. For m ore informatio n on blinking and lit indicators, see "Alarm disp lay of the inserter" in the Troubleshootin g.
SHARP OSA Sharp OSA (Open Syst ems Architecture) is an ar chitecture that enables external applica tions to be direct ly connected to a digital multifunct ion machine over a network.
EXTERNAL ACCOUNT MODULE (MX-AMX3) The external account modu le is required to use a "external account application" on the machine. An external account ap plication can be used in "external au thenticatio n mode" or "external cou nt mode".
If login fails If the login screen fails t o appear or the applicat ion does not operate co rrectly, the machine may a lso stop o perating correctly. In this event, it is recommended that you quit external account mode fro m the Web pages of the machine.
This chapter explains how to clean the machin e and replace the toner cartrid ges and the waste toner box. REGULAR MAINTENANCE To ensure that the ma chine continues t o provide top quality per formance, periodically clean the machine .
Scanning area If colored lines or wh ite lines appear in images sca nned using the automati c document feeder , clean the scanning ar ea (the thin long glass next to the document glass) . To clean this area, u se the glass cleaner that is stored in t he automatic do cument feeder.
