8 Display This displays messages and prompts to h elp you operate the machine. The backlight turns o n whenev er a ke y is t ouched, and th en automatically tur ns off after a preset time if no fur ther ope rations are perf or med. The display can be tilted to the desired angle for easy viewing.
9 ON LINE light (p rinter option only) When this light is on, the machine can receive data (print jobs) ov er the network. The light is tur ned on or off with the ON LINE ke y .
10 Rapid Dial Ke ys Press one of these ke ys to dial a fax number automatically , or specify an e- mail recipient if the network scanner option i s installed.
11 TIMER key Press this ke y to set up a f ax operation to be performed automatically at a later time. CO VER SHEET key Press this ke y to include a cover sheet when sending a f ax. LIFE key Press this ke y , f ollowed by , to check the total number of pages printed by the machine .

Connections 15 1. Installation Connections Connecting the power cor d Connect the female end of the po wer cord to the machine as shown. Inser t the male end into a 120 V , 60 Hz, grounded (3-pro ng) A C outlet. Important! The machine requires its own dedicated pow er outlet.

Push the guide down into the holes. 4 Place a stack of paper in the cassette, print side up. • Make sure the stack of paper is not higher than the two tabs on the pa per guide and the two metal tabs.

Transmittable Document s 36 Maximum scanning area The area of the document that the mach ine can scan is slightly smal ler than the actual document size. Retransmission will begin from the page which was being transmitted when the error occurred.

77 3. Network Scanner 3. Netw ork Scanner Option Intr oduction The FO-NS2 Network Scanner Expansion Kit allows you to scan a document and directly transmit the image to an e-mail address (Scan to E-mail), FTP ser ver (Scan to FTP), or computer desktop on y our network (Scan to Desktop).
Introduction 78 Steps required f or setup The following steps are required to use the ne twork scanner option. The steps must be comp leted in the order sho wn. 1. Y our dealer must install the FO-LN1 networ k interf ace kit and the FO-NS2 network scanner kit, and enter the networ k scanner product ke y .

Network Scanner Setting the IP Address Once your dealer has instal led the net work scanner option and th e machine is connected to the network, the networ k administrator or adm inistrator of the machine should use the follo wing proce dure to set the IP address of the machine.

Network Scanner Mail Server and DNS Ser ver Settings Settings for y our E-mail ser ver and DNS server must be configured in order to use the network scanner function . T o confi gure the settings, access the machine's Web page from a computer that is connected to the same network as the machine.
Mail Server and DN S Server Settings 84 Setting P assw ords P assw ords can be set to restrict access to the Web page. An administrator passw ord and a user password can be set. When the W eb page is acce ssed with the administrator password, all settings can be configured.
