11 BEFORE USING THE MACHINE 1 Display Shows the set number of copies, as wel l as the copy ratio, user program function or setting code, or an error code when an error occurs. When the [SCAN] key is pressed to enter scan mode, the displ ay shows the port used (U_1 for USB 1.
12 POWER ON AND OFF The pow er switch is located on the left sid e of the machi ne. POWER ON Turn the power switch to the "ON" position It will t ake about 45 second s for the ma chine to warm up. While the machi ne is warmin g up, the POWER SAVE i ndi cator will bl ink.

15 BEFORE USING THE MACHINE 1 Loading the bypa ss tray 1 Unfol d th e byp ass tr ay. When fee ding 8-1 /2" x 14" or 11" x 17 " sized paper, p ull out the bypass tr ay extens ion. 2 Set the paper guides to the copy paper width. 3 Insert the paper (print face down) all the way into the bypass tra y.

20 COPY FUNCTIONS MAKING A COPY DARKER OR LIGHTER Automatic exposure adj ustment is initial ly enabled. This functi on automatical ly adjusts the copy ima ge according to the original being copie d. If you wish to select the exposure le vel yourself, foll ow the steps belo w.
21 COPY FUNCTIONS 2 SETTING THE NUMBER OF COPIES Press the numeric keys to set the number of copies. ● The set n umber of copies ap pears in t he display . A maxi mum of 99 c opi es (f acto ry de faul t set ti ng) c an be set. ● If you wi sh to make o nly a singl e copy, co pying is possi ble with th e display s howing " 0".
22 COPY FUNCTIONS 4 Pres s the [AUTO IM AGE] key. The AUTO IMAGE indica tor lights up and the appropriate r atio for the origina l size and paper size is selected. (The indicator o f the selected ratio will light up.) 5 Set the number of copies and press the [ STAR T] key ( ).
23 COPY FUNCTIONS 2 SELECTING THE VERTI CAL AND HORIZONTAL COPY RATIOS SEPARATELY (XY ZOOM copying) The XY ZOOM feature allows the horizontal an d vertical copy r atios to be changed independ ently. Example: Reduction onl y in the ho rizontal dir ection.
24 COPY FUNCTIONS 6 Use the [PRESET RATIO] se lector keys ( , ) and [ Zoom] keys ( , ) to change the copy ratio in the horizontal direction. Pres s the [PRE SET RATI O] select or keys ( , ) to s elect a rati o close to the desire d ratio, and then pre ss the [Zoom] k eys ( , ) to adjust the rati o in incremen ts of 1%.
25 COPY FUNCTIONS 2 3 Turn the copy of original A over, and without changing the position of the edge closes t to you, ins ert it in the bypass tr ay. Insert the paper all the way in. 4 Select the bypass tra y with the [ TRAY SELECT] key, and then press the [START] ke y ( ).

27 COPY FUNCTIONS 2 Using the document glass 1 Place the origina l that you wish to copy onto the front side of the paper on the document glass and close the document cover/SPF/RSPF. 2 Select the original s ize. (p.00) 3 Press the [ORIGI NAL TO COPY] key, and make sur e that t he indicator is lit.
28 COPY FUNCTIONS IMAGE ROTATION IN DUPLEX COPYING This function is used to inver t the top and bottom of the image on the front side of the paper durin g two-sid ed copying. 1 Hold down the [ORIGINAL TO COPY] key until the indicator blinks. The curre ntly set settin g code bl inks in the first digit of the number of copies displa y.
29 2 DUAL PAGE COPYING A dual p age orig inal can be automatic ally se parated into two pages d uring copy ing. This feature is conveni ent for making copies of books and other dual page originals on individ ual sheet s of paper .
30 INTERRUPTING A COPY RUN (Interrupt copying) A copy run can be temporaril y inter rupted to allow another copy job t o be perfo rmed. Wh en the other job is fi nished, the copy run will res ume using t he original copy settings . 1 Press the [INTERRUPT] key to interrupt the copy ru n.

35 3 CREATING MARGINS WHEN COPYING (Margin shift) The MA RGIN SHIFT fea ture, in i ts initial setting, a utomatica lly sh ifts the text o r image to increas e the marg in by approx imately 1/2" (10 mm). A marg in can also be crea ted at the to p of the page on model s that support a utomatic two-sided c opying.

37 4 Chapter 4 PRINTER/SCANNER FUNCTIONS The mac hine incl udes a USB 1.1 port and a paral lel port as standard equipmen t. A compu ter can be connected to these p orts to use the machine a s a printer or a sca nner. In addi tion, a Dual function board can be instal led to en able the u se of a USB 2 .
38 PRINTER/SCANNER FUNCTIONS 3 Open the file that you wish to print and select "Print" from the File menu. 4 Make su re that the printer dri ver for the machine is selected, a nd select print settings in the printer driver.
39 PRINTER/SCANNER FUNCTIONS 4 3 Press a [SCAN MENU] key to begin scanning. The displ ay w ill sh ow t he number of the [SCAN MENU] key t hat yo u pressed, and the number will blink. If the origi nal cannot be easi ly removed fr om the exit are a, open the moveable pa rt of the document feeder tr ay and remove the origina l. If an RSPF is install ed, remove the r eversing tray and then remove the origin al.
