Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D 15 Hawk 1LP Family product information Characteristics of the various drives covered by this manual are listed in the following table.
16 Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D Notes. [1] Standard units are factory formatted with 512 data bytes per sector with one spare sector per track and 2 cylinders at inner tracks reserved for spares in addition to capacity listed. [2] Measured with an average reading DC ammeter.
Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D 17 Initial set-up information For the initial setup connect the cables or plug into a mounted connector (if applicable), set the drive ID on the bus and enable or disable the I/O line terminator resistor packs ("N" and some "NC" models).
18 Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D DC Power connection "N" and "ND" model family drives receive DC power through a 4 pin connector mounted on the PCB next to the SCSI I/O connector.
Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D 19 order. Bus addresses 0 through 6 should be used (the host adapter usually uses address 7). If the drive LED shows no on/off activity when the host is trying to communicate with it, an incorrect bus address selec- tion at the drive should be suspected.
20 Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D Model numbers that end in "ND" have differential I/O circuits and these drives and some "NC" model drives have no provisions for terminators on the drive PCB. The system manufacturer must provide some external means of I/O line termination.

22 Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D Drive configuration Each disc drive has one or more option select header connectors on the back, side or front where jumper plugs are installed to select the way that the drive is to be configured or to select its ID on the I/O bus.
Hawk 1LP Family Installation Guide, Rev. D 23 Hawk 1LP family NC models (80 pin SCSI I/O) On Model NC drives there is no J5. J6 can be used to set drive ID, but the host probably does it over the 80 pin interface. J6 is used to select other configuration op- tions as has previously been described, or is described in the notes following Figure 3b.
