3.2. 3 Set Feat ures c ommand This command controls the implementation of various features that the drive supports. When the drive receives this command, it sets BSY, checks t he contents of the Featur es registe r, clears BSY and generat es an interrupt .
3.2.4 S.M .A.R. T. commands Self-Monit oring, Analysi s and Reporting T echnology ( S.M.A.R.T.) is an emerging technology that provides near-term fail ure prediction for disc drives. W hen S.M.A.R.T. is enabled, the S eagate drive monitors prede- termined driv e attributes t hat are susceptible to degradati on over time.
