5 .7 < Loading original s and pri nt media> In the multi-purpose tray The multi -purpose tr ay can h old special s izes and types of print ma terial, such as trans parencie s, postcard s, note cards, and envel opes. It is useful for single page printin g on letterhea d or co lored p aper .

6 .2 < Copy ing > Reduced or enlarged copy By using the Reduce/Enlarg e button, you c an reduce or en large the size of a copied image fr om 25% to 400% when yo u copy original document s from the s canner gl ass, or from 25% to 100% fro m the ADF .

7 .1 < Basic print ing> 7 Basic prin ting This chapt er ex plai ns comm on pri ntin g tasks. Printing a document Y our machi ne allows yo u to pri nt from va rious Windows or Macintosh. The exac t steps for pri nting a docume nt may vary dep ending on the applicat ion you use.
8 .1 < Scanning > 8 Scanning Scanning with your ma chine let s you turn pictu res and t ext into dig ital file s that can be stored on your com puter . Then y ou can fax or email the files, upload th em to your w ebsite, or use them to create proj ects that you can print.
8 .2 < Scanning > Scanning u sing a network conn ection If you hav e connec ted your machine to a network an d set up n etwork parame ters correctly , you can scan and send images over the networ k.
8 .3 < Scanning > 4 Click Add . 5 Select the index number , from 1 to 2 0. 6 Enter a nam e in Alias for the Setup for the corres ponding Serve r List entry . This name wi ll be dis played on you r machine. 7 Select IP Add ress or Host Name . 8 Enter the s erver address in do tted decimal no tation or as a host name .
8 .4 < Scanning > Setting network sca n timeout If the Sc anClair pr ogra m on you r comp uter does no t send a ref resh request an d does not sca n a job w ithin a s pecified timeo ut period, your machine cancels th e scan jo b. Y ou can ch ange this timeout set ting as needed.
8 .5 < Scanning > Scanning to an SMB serv e r Y ou can sc an an image an d then send i t to an SMB server . Y ou ne ed to set u p parame ters for ac cess to SMB ser vers f rom Web Image Monitor T ype 104 . See pa ge 8.3. Before sca nning, you can set the scan op tions for your sc an job.
8 .6 < Scanning > Configuring group email numbers 1 Enter your machine’s IP address as th e URL in a browser and c lick Go to acce ss the web site of your machine . 2 Click Machine Settings and Group Address Book . 3 Click Add . 4 Select a g roup number a nd ent er the gr oup name you want.

9 .3 < Faxing> Confirmin g a transmission When the l ast page of your original has been sent s uccessfully , the machine beeps and re turns to S tandby mode. When som ething go es wrong whil e sendin g your fax, an er ror message appears o n the display .
9 .4 < Faxing> 7 Press Stop/ Clear to return to S tandb y mode. Receiving autom atically in Fax mode Y our machi ne is preset to Fa x mode at th e factory . When yo u receiv e a fax, the m achine answe rs the call on a specified number of rings and automatic ally receives th e fax.
9 .5 < Faxing> 5 Call your fax number from a nother teleph one. It is not necessary to place th e call from a fax m achine. 6 When you r machine begin s to ring, do not answ er the ca ll. The mac hine r equ ires seve ral r ings t o lea rn th e patte rn.
9 .6 < Faxing> Printing rece ived faxes on both sides of p aper By using the Dupl ex button on your machine, you can set t he machine to print recei ved faxes on b oth sides of paper . 1 Press Duplex . 2 Press the Scroll but tons until the binding op tion you want a ppears.
9 .7 < Faxing> Sending a dela yed fax Y ou can set yo ur machine to se nd a fax at a later time w hen you wi ll not be presen t. 1 Press Fax . 2 Load or iginals face up i nto the ADF , or place a s ingle orig inal face down on the scan ner glass .
9 .8 < Faxing> 8 Enter the jo b name you want and press OK . The origi nal is scanned into mem o ry be fore transm ission. The display shows memo ry ca pacity and the num ber of p ages being stored in memo ry . 9 If an or iginal is placed on the scanner g lass, select Ye s to add another p age.
10 .1 < Fax setup> 10 Fax setup This cha pter gives you informatio n on setting up your machine fo r receivin g and sending fa xes. This chapt er in clude s: • Changi ng the fax se tup options.
10 .2 < Fax setup> Changing the default document settings The fax op tions, incl uding res olution and darkness , can be set to the mo st frequently used modes. W hen you send a fax, the default s ettings are used if th ey are not chang ed by using the corresponding button and menu.
10 .3 < Fax setup> Settin g up Ph one Book Y ou can set up P hone Book with the f ax numbers you use most frequently . Y our machine provides you wi th the fo llowin g features for setting up Ph.

14 .2 < Troubleshoot ing> Roller misfee d 1 Open the scanner lid. 2 Seize th e misfed p aper , and remove the pap er from t he feed area b y carefully pulling it to t he right usin g both han ds. 3 Close the scann er lid. Then load the removed p ages back in to the ADF .
14 .3 < Troubleshoot ing> In the optional tray 2 1 Pull the o ptional tray 2 op en. 2 Remove th e jamme d pape r from the machine. If the p aper does not m ove when you pul l, or if you do n ot see the paper in this area, stop and g o to step 3.

Installin g Software fo r Network Prin ting When you connect your printe r to a network, you must fir st configur e the TCP/IP settings for the pri nter . After you have assigned and verified the T CP/IP setti ngs, yo u are ready to install the software on each computer on the network.
