12 Camera Features In addition to basic picture-ta king, the Optio E90 ha s a variety of shooting modes to suit d ifferent situations. This section de scribes how to make the most of the key featu res of your ca mera. Together with the explan ations of camera operat ions, it will enable you to enj oy your camera to the full.
13 When you tak e a picture wi th the Opti o E90, you can ch oose from a wide ran ge of fun fram es to c reate a ttractive frame d shots (p. 76). You can also ad d frames to picture s you have taken an d adjust the position of the subjec t in the pict ure or reduce or enl arge the pictu re size to match the f rame shape an d size.
14 With the Optio E90, you can display recorded images by date in calendar format (p.103). This lets you quickly find the image you want to play back. The Optio E90 has a va riety of functions to let you enjoy pl aying back and editing imag es without havin g to connect the ca mera to your co mputer and transfer the im ages first.

29 1 Getting Started Battery Level Indicator You can check the battery level by the indicator on the display. Use of the AC a dapter kit K-AC62 (optional) with a household power supply is recommended if you intend to use the camera for a long ti me or connect it to a computer.

31 1 Getting Started Installing the SD Memory Card This camera uses either an SD Memory Card or an SDHC Memory Card. (Both cards are referred to as SD Memory Cards hereafter.) Captured images are saved on the SD Memory Card if a card is inserted in the camera.

33 1 Getting Started Precautions When Using an SD Memory Card • The SD Memory Card is equipped with a write- protect switch. Setting the switch to LOCK prevents new data from being recorded on the card, the stored data from being deleted, and the card from being formatted by the camera or computer.
34 1 Getting Started The sizes of the reco rded images differ depen ding on the number of recorded pixels of the images, so the numbe r of images that will be saved on an SD Memory Card also differs. Choose the appropriate numbe r of record ed pixels for still pi ctures on the [ A Rec.

56 3 Taking Pict ures Taking Still Pictures The Optio E90 features a wide ran ge of shooting modes a nd functions to suit almost any subject or scene. This chapter describes how to take pictures with the most commonly used standard setting s (the initial factory default settings).

In these cases, lock the focus on an obje ct the same distance away as the subject (by pressing and holding the shutter release b utton halfway), then aim the camera at your subject and press the shutter release button fully.
