vi Making Prints Before making prints us ing this ma- chine, you have to make a m aster by pressing the { Start } key. When you press the { Star t } key, the machine scans the origin al image and makes a master. This p rocedure describ es how to ma ke basic prints.

11 1. OPERATION Printing Paper The following types of print paper are not recommended for this machine. • P aper smaller than 70 mm × 148 mm, 2.8" × 5.9" • P aper larger than 297 mm × 432 mm, 11.6" × 17.0" • Paper heavier than 209.
OPERATION 12 1 Important ❒ Correct curls in the pape r before setting it in the machine. When you cannot correct the pap er curl, stack the paper with the curl face down. If paper is curled, it might wrap around the drum or stains might appear. Do not store paper where it will be exposed to heat or direct sunlight.
Originals 13 1 Originals The following origi nal sizes set on the exposure glass (contact glass) c an be de- tected. Under the following co nditions, the machine might not detect the original. In this case, s elect the original image area with the { Edge Eras e } key.
OPERATION 14 1 The first 10 mm, 0.4 ", of the leading edge and the last 2 mm, 0.08”, of the trailing edge cannot be printed. Make sure the leading edge margin is at least 10 mm, 0.4", and the trailing edge margin is at least 2 mm, 0.08”.
Preparation For Printing 15 1 Preparation For Printing Loadin g Paper A Carefully open the paper f eed tray. B Lift the feed side/end plates. C Grasp the side/end plat e knob and adjust the side/end pla tes to match th e paper s ize. D Place the pa per on the paper feed tray.
OPERATION 16 1 Setting Up The P aper Deli very Tray A Grasp the end plate knob and move th e paper delivery end plate to match the print paper size. When you use A4, 8 1 / 2 " × 11" L or small er paper A Adjust the end plate to match the paper size scale on the op- eration panel side.
Preparation For Printing 17 1 C Lower or lift the paper align ment wings by turnin g the left and righ t kno bs. Note ❒ When the guides are up, you might not be able t o load the unit to full capaci ty (1,000 sheets) depending on the paper you are using.

User Codes 19 1 User Codes Preparation You have to turn on User Code mode and register your user c ode with the user tools. You can regis- ter up to 20 user c odes. See “Set User Code”, “Reg. User Code”, in ⇒ P.146 “6. Set User Co de (s)” .
