Remote Contr ol Battery Installation The batteries supplied with your remote control are packed separately. Install them as follows. 1. Turn the remote control over and slide the battery compartment cover off. 2. Insert the batteries so that their positive (+) ends contact the positive terminals in the battery compartment.

Powering Y our Camcorder (continued) 17 Using the Battery to Power Y our Camcorder The battery must be charged before it can be used the first time. Initial charging will take approximately one hour.
Attaching the Charged Battery to the Camcorder If the DC cord is attached to the camcorder, remove it before attaching the battery. 1. Align the reference line on the battery with the line on the back of the camcorder. 2. Hold the battery flush against the camcorder and slide it in the direction of the arrow.
Powering Y our Camcorder (continued) Using the RCA DCC05 Car Cord Adapter/Charger to Charge the Battery 1. If the DC power cord is attached to the car cord adapter/charger, remove it. 2. Attach the battery to the car cord adapter/charger as shown. 3. Insert the plug on the DCC05 into the vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket.
RCA V ideo Cassettes 20 We recommend that RCA cassettes be used with your camcorder. The tape in these cassettes is of high-quality formulation. It has been manufactured to our critical specifications for excellent performance. Use of tape not meeting these specifications could considerably reduce the performance of your camcorder.
Special Featur es Camera Edit The camera edit feature allows you to use the F.FWD. (fast forward) and REW (rewind) buttons on the camcorder (or the SCENE SEARCH + and – buttons on the remote control) to precisely position the tape while the camcorder is in the record-pause mode.

Pr eset Pr ogram Modes 27 The camcorder has several preset program modes which allow you to select a mode that fits your particular recording situation. The camcorder will automatically set shutter speed, white balance, and iris. Manual or auto-focus can be used during any of the preset program modes.
T ime Counter with Memory Stop 28 Time Counter The time counter display shows the actual time elapsed when recording a program or playing back a segment of a pre-recorded tape. The time counter also helps you quickly locate the end of recorded segments.
Camcorder Recording T ips Recording Tips • Practice recording under a variety of lighting conditions. This will help you respond quickly whenever you see a scene you want to record. • When using manual focus, it is easier to make professional looking videos if you check the focus before you start recording.
Car e and Maintenance Camcorder Care and Storage • Keep dust and grit from entering the camcorder’s cassette door. Dust and grit are abrasive and will cause excessive wear both to the camcorder’s recording/playback heads and cassettes. • We recommend RCA video cassettes be used with this camcorder.
V iewfinder Playback Viewfinder playback is the simplest way to watch tapes using the camcorder. This method is generally used only to review scenes immediately after recording because the display is in black and white. If you want to privately listen during viewfinder playback, you may connect an optional earphone to the earphone jack.
Playback on a TV (or VCR) Using the Antenna Connection Installation 1 Disconnect the VHF antenna from your TV (or VCR). Connect the antenna to the VHF IN connector on the RF output adapter if you are going to leave the adapter connected to the TV (or VCR).
