10 Connecting to the computer • Connect the player to y our computer with the USB cable provided . The play er will turn on automatically . • The player will be connected in MSC (Mass Storage Class) mode . It will appear as a drive letter on your computer and behave as a detachable driv e for file transf er in one or both directions.
11 Managing files on your RCA Pla yer Before y ou begin using your RCA play er , you’ll want to copy y our media files to the player . Y ou can use any of the following methods to transf er content:.
Using W indows Explorer T o copy files in MSC mode: 1. Open the player in Windows Explorer . 2. Drag and drop music files into the Music folder and picture files int o the Photo folder . T o copy files in M TP mode: 1. Open the player in Windows Explorer 2.
13 General controls T urning the player on and off T urn player on/off: Slide and hold the Pow er/Lock Slider ( / ) towards from the headphone jack. Locking the player c ontrols Lock play er controls: Slide the P ower/L ock Slider ( / ) away from the headphone jack.
14 Menu types The player has two menu types: Player menu The player menu appears when y ou turn on the player or if you pr ess and hold while list ening to the player .
15 • If the highlighted item is playable (for example , an audio file), press to start playback. • If the highlighted item indicates the current setting (for example , the repeat mode setting), press to change the setting.
16 The Home menu The top-level or “Home ” menu is always display ed when you press and hold . The menu options are: Audiobooks Press to enter the Audiobook menu and choose a particular audiobook for listening. Radio Press to enter the Radio menu and choose to either listen to the radio or play vrecor dings of previous radio shows .
17 Playing music files The player sorts your music files by track name (title), artist, album and genre. 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Music . 2. Press to enter Music mode. 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press or to start listening.
18 The following options ar e available: • Add to Fa vorites – A dds the current file to the F avorites playlist (read page 26). Each file can be added to the F avorites playlist multiple times. • Repeat – T oggles repeat mode. Options available: Off, One 1 , and All (corresponding icons show on the display).

20 Playing video files 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to V ideos . 2. Press to enter V ideo mode. 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press or to start viewing. Videos Video viewing Goes back, skips back ward.
21 Option menu (video playback) Press to pause the video playback. Press to show the Option menu. Press + or – to highlight an option and then press to confirm the selection or change the setting.
22 Playing picture files 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Pictures . 2. Press to enter Picture mode . 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press or to start viewing.

24 Audiobooks Audiobooks pla yback controls Playing audiobooks Audiobook playback is similar to music pla yback. 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Audiobooks . 2. Press to enter Audiobook mode . 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press or to start listening.
25 Option menu (A udiobook playback) Press at the playback (Now Playing) screen to pause the pla yback and press to show the Option menu. Press + or – to highlight an option and then press to confirm the selection or change the setting.
26 Radio Playing F M radio T o turn the radio on: 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Radio . 2. Press to enter Radio mode. 3. While Listen is highlighted, press or to star t listening. The frequency screen appears. T o tune the radio: • Press and hold or to start scanning through the frequency range.
27 2. Press + or – t o highlight T uning and press to switch from Manual to Preset . 3. Press or to exit the menu. 4. Press or to choose the desired station preset number . Improving F M radio sound If stereo reception is noisy , you can often reduce the noise by switching to mono .
28 Creating a "F av orites" playlist Y ou can create a playlist of your fa vorite music by adding new files t o the playlist as you listen t o them. This function is not available for other media f ormats such as videos, pictures, audiobooks and rec ordings.
29 Recording v oice memo Y ou can record v oice and play back recor dings as well as copy the r ecordings (W A V files) to your PC. T o record v oice: 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to V oice Memo . 2. Press to enter V oice Memo mode.
30 Settings Changing the play er ’ s settings T o change the player settings: 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Settings . 2. Press to enter Settings mode. 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press to change the settings.
31 Screensav er • Sets the screensaver activation time which will launch the screensav er after specified duration of inactivity. • Options: 10 sec., 20 sec., 30 sec., or 1 min. P ow erSav e • Sets the powersave int erval time which will turn the player off after specified duration if no key is pressed.
32 Tips and tr oubleshooting Cannot delete files on the play er . • Y ou can delete files on the player using your c omputer . 1. Connect the player to y our computer . 2. Open the player in Windows Explorer and navigate t o the folder containing the files .
33 The play er takes a long time to read files in a f older . • File r eading may take longer if too many files ar e put in a single folder . Re -organize your files into a number of folders. Song information is not showing corr ectly . • Song information may not match your curr ent player’ s language setting.
34 V oice rec ording stops automatically after 5 hours. • Maximum duration for each recor ding is 5 hours. Start a new recording after the maximum duration has reached. What is MTP mode? • MTP (Media T ransfer Protoc ol) mode is essential if you want to transfer DRM10 c ontent to your pla yer .
