9 PREPARAT ION Your system ’s display is protect ed by a piece of plas tic film du r- ing ship ment. Pe el off thi s film be fore you u se the sy stem. INSTALLING BATTER IES You need four AAA bat teries (not su pplied) to protec t the sys- tem’s m emory du ring a power fa il ure.
10 • When repl acing the batt eries, ha ve fresh ones on ha nd before you begin. If you do not in stall the new batteries withi n about 2 minutes after removi ng the old ones, you will lose all the inform ation sto red in t he syste m. 1. Make su re th e sys tem is unpl ugged from the t ele phone line an d AC power .
11 When BATT (batte ry) appears or the dis play dim s, replace the batteries. Cautions: • Always re move old or weak batteries. Ba tteries can leak chemica ls that can dam age your system. • Dispose of dead ba tteries prom ptly and properly . Do not bury or bur n them .
12 CONNECTING THE SYSTEM The Syste m 350 co nne cts to an y modu lar phon e jack a nd your phone. You can also co nnect it t o an an swering machine . Connecting t o a Single- Line Phone 1. D iscon nect the telep hone line co rd from the phone and plug it into th e system’ s TO LINE jack .
13 Follow th ese steps to connect tw o System 350s to a two-l ine phone. 1. Discon nect the t elepho ne line c ord from th e modula r phone ja ck (on the wal l) and p lug it i nto L1 + L2 on the tr i- plex adap te r . 2. Plug the tri plex ada pter int o the modu lar phone jack.
14 Connecting t o an Answering Machine 1. D iscon nect the p hone lin e cord th at connec ts your answ ering machin e to the ph one line from the answeri ng machin e’s jack . Th en pl ug i t into the syst em’s TO LIN E jack. 2. Plug one end of th e suppli ed line co rd into the s ystem’ s TO PH ONE ja ck.
15 Attaching t he Mounting Bracke t 1. Align th e keyhol e slots o n the botto m of th e system with the hooks on the m ountin g bracket . 2. Gently p ush the sys tem down o n the brac ket to se cure it . If you are p lacing th e system on a desk , shelf, or t able, pull out the stand on the back of t he bracke t until it click s.
16 3. Thread a s crew throug h each hol e, letting th e head ex tend 1 / 8 i nch from t he wall. 4. Attach t he mo unting bra cket to t he syste m (see “” o n Page 15). 5. Route the phone line co rds and AC adapter cord th rough the slots on the bac k of the brack et.
17 ADJUSTING THE DIS PLAY CONTRAST To lighten or da rken the display, rep eatedly pre ss CON- TRAST . CONTRAST ADJUST appears and the dis pl ay lig hts. CHOOSING A LANGU AGE Your System 350 is pro grammed t o display messag es in En- glish, b ut you can change i t to dis play in Fre nch or Span ish.
18 OPERATION RECEIVING AND STORING CALLS Calle r ID is a servi ce prov ided by your t elephone compan y. When y ou subs cribe to this s ervice, the tele phone company sends the caller’s telephone number (and na me, if avail able) and t he call’s da te and ti me betwe en the firs t and seco nd rings.
19 Each cal l record i ncludes the time and date of the call, the call number (ord er in which the call i s received), t he caller’ s tele- phone num ber, and t he caller’ s name (i f availa ble). To scroll through the cal l records, repeatedly pre ss (or hold down) REVI EW or REVI EW .
20 Displayed Cal l Information The system can disp lay the fo llowing in formation . Display (English, French, Spanish) Descrip tion REPT (Repeat) Ap pears with a n umber if you ha ve re ceived a call from the same ph one nu mber more than once (up t o 9 times ).

22 DELETING CALLS Deleting a Single Call 1. R epeated ly press (o r hold down) eit her REVI EW key unti l you se e the cal l record y ou want to d elete. 2. P ress ERASE . The system delete s that record a nd automa tically renumb ers the rem aining c all record s.
23 VIP CALL LIST You r system l ets you sa ve up to 2 0 call rec ords in i ts VIP ca ll list so they will not be deleted if you de lete all calls fr om the sys- tem’s m emory. Thi s lets y ou save a list of i mportant c allers. Follow t hese ste ps to store call record s in the VI P call list.
24 To delete all entries from the VIP call list, hold down ERASE . DELETE ALL? appea rs. Press ER ASE to confirm . Or, to can cel deletion, do not press a ny button.
