5 PREP ARATION MAKING THE CONNECT IONS 1. Plug one end of the supplied modu- lar cord into the telephone line’s modul ar jack. Then plug the ot h er end int o the ET-893’s TEL. LINE jac k. 2. Plug the headset’s mini plug into t he HEADSET jack on the right side of the ET-893.
6 ADJUSTING TH E HEADSET 1. Place the heads et on your head with the ea rpiece over either ear . 2. Adjust the headset band u ntil it rests with alm ost no pres sure on your ear and the top of your head. If the headset is lo ose, remove it and adjust it inward slightly to tighten it.
7 3. Press any number other than 0 . Note: I f your phone system requi res that you d ial an access code (9, for example ) before you dial an ou tside numbe r , do not pres s the access code either . If the dial tone stops, you ha ve touch-t one service.
8 OPE R ATION MAKING/RECEIVING CALLS 1. With y our headset on, press TA L K / HANG UP so the green IN U SE indi- cator lights. Then listen for the di al ton e . Note: If you do not hear t he dial tone, hold d own T ALK/HANG UP for 2 seconds to reini tial ize the switch- hook function.
