9 BEFORE Y OU BEGIN REMOVING THE INSULA TION STRIPS Before you can use the organizer, you must remove the two protective insula- tion strips from inside the ba ttery com- partment.
10 T URNING THE ORGANIZER ON AND OFF Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer. Press ON/OFF again to turn it off. To conserve batte ry power, the orga- nizer automatically turns off after about 6 minutes of non-use.
11 T URNING THE KEY T ONE ON AND OFF You can set your organizer so a tone sounds each time you press a key. With the o rganizer turned on, p ress to turn the tone on or off.

20 VI EWING WORLD T IMES Once you set your home time, you can follow th ese steps t o view the t ime in 31 other cities around the world. 1. Press CALEN/W/ H TIME . The date and time of the la st selected city appears. 2. Repeatedly press SEARCH ∧ or ∨ to select the city you want.
21 1. Press CALEN/W/H TIME twice. The display shows th e day of the week, the current year and month, and the calendar for one week at a time. The leftmost date is Sun- day and the current date flashes. 2. T o move forward or backward through the weeks, repea tedly press (or hold down) or .
22 W EB SITE/PHONE LIST S ST ORING W EB SITE RECORDS Today, more and more comp anies, or- ganizations, and even indi viduals have sites on the worl d wide web. For ex- ample, th e address for Tandy Co rpo- ration is http://www.tandy.com . You probably have bookmarks on your home or office com puter for the sites you frequently visit.
23 The display shows 12 characters at a time. When appears o n the right side of the record, there are more characters to the right of the last di s- played character. Press to view the next 12 characters. When appears on the left side of the record, you can press to move back.

33 MEMO/T O DO The Memo function lets you record notes to yourself, while the To Do function lets you keep a list of thi ngs to do. Each entry can be up to 96 charac- ters. ENTERING A MEMO FILE 1. Press MEMO/TO DO . NO MEMO appears if there are no memo records stored.

Press or to move the cursor to the characte r you want to ed it. T o change a chara cter , simpl y enter the correct character .

41 DELETING A W EB SITE/ PHONE LIST OR MEMO/ T O DO RECORD 1. Recall the record you want to de- lete. 2. Press DEL . DELETE? (Y/N) appears. 3. If you are sure, press Y .
42 DAIL Y ALARM You can set an alarm to sound at a set time of day. When th e daily alarm i s on, ( ( • ) ) appears and a tone sounds at the set time for about 20 seconds, even if the organizer is off.
43 SETTING THE DAILY ALARM TIME 1. Press ALARM/SCHED twice. ALARM and the curre nt alarm time appear . 2. Press PROG . Y ou see ALARM? , and the first alarm digit flashes.
44 3. Use the number keys to enter the alarm hour and minute. Note: If you make a mist ake, press or to move forward or backward to the digit that you want to change. Then enter the correct di git. 4. Press AM/PM to set the alarm time to AM or PM if you a re using the 12-hour time format.

47 SCHEDULE ALARMS Schedule alarms keep you in control of your busy schedule by reminding you of meetings a nd other important events. For each alarm, you can enter an alarm message of up to 96 ch arac- ters. At the set time, the alarm sound s for 20 seconds and your stored message appears.

53 RECALLING A SCHEDULE ALARM Schedule alarms are stored in chrono- logical order. 1. Press ALARM/SCHED . SCHED- ULE appears. Note: If there are n o schedule alarms stored in your organizer , NO SCHEDULE appears. 2. Press SEA RCH ∨ . The fi rst sched- ule alarm appe ars.
54 EDITING A SCHEDULE ALARM 1. Recall the sch edule ala rm you want to edit. 2. Press EDIT . A flashing cursor appears on the first year digit. 3. Press to move forward or to move backward to the digit you want to change. Then enter the correct date and time.
55 T o add a character , press INS so a character space appears, then enter a character . Press SP ACE to enter a space in place of a character . T o delete a character , press DEL . 6. T o store the schedule alarm, hold down ENTER until WAIT... appears.

57 THE PASSWORD You can block un authorized access to information by entering it in an are a which is protected by a passw ord that you assign. Once you enter the password, al l the records you enter are automatically stored in the secret area. You must en- ter the password t o recall a record in the sec ret area.

60 RECALLING A SECRET RECORD 1. Select the desired fun ction using WEB SITE/PHONE , ALARM/SCHED , or MEMO/T O DO . 2. Press SECRET , then enter the password. 3. T o recall, e dit, or delete a secre t file record, see “Using Records” on Page 37. 65-743.
61 CALCULA T OR Press CONV/CALC on ce to use the cal- culator. CAL and 0 appear. CALCULA TIONS St andard Calculations Press the keys in the order they ap- pear in the arithm etic operation.
62 For example: Press C/CE once to clear the last entry. Press C/CE twice to cle ar all pending calculations. Note: If the result of a calculation has more than 10 digits, o r if you try to di- vide by 0, E (error) appears. To clear the error, pre ss C/CE .
63 For example, to calculate 4 2 : Memory Calculations The memo ry calculation feature lets you do multistep cal culations easily. Use the following keys to perform memory calculations: • Press MC to clear the memory . • Press M+ to total a calculation and add the total to memory .

65 CONVERSIONS METRIC CONVERSIONS The organizer ca n convert between the following: Degrees Celsius/degrees Fahrenheit Yards/meters Inches/centimeters Pounds/kilograms Ounces/grams Gallons/liters Fluid ounces/millili ters Miles/kilometers Follow these st eps to perform metric conversions.
66 3. Enter the numbe r you want to convert. 4. Press or to select the direc- tion of the co nversion . The con- verted number app ears. For example, if you wa nt to con- vert 32 ° F to Celsius and the dis- play shows DEG C -> DEG F , press to chang e it to DEG C <- DEG F .
67 CURRENCY CONVERSION You can use your organizer to convert between four pairs of currencie s. The pre-programmed pairs are: US $/DM US $/¥ US $/C (Canadian) $ US $/£ Or, you can store your own pairs. Follow these steps to convert curren- cies. 1. Press CONV/CALC three times.
68 If you want to change the currency name(s) or set the exchange rate(s), press EDIT . Enter the new currency name on the left, then press ENTER and enter the new currency name on the right. Note: Y ou can press SY M to select the symbols you need when editing currency name s.
69 6. Press or to select the direc- tion of the conversion. The con- verted amount appears. The currency names a nd exchange rates you enter remain stored until you reset the organizer.

76 RESETTING THE ORGANIZER Resetting the Secret Memory Follow these steps to reset th e orga- nizer and clear the re cords stored in the secret memory. This is useful if you forget the password o r just want to free up memory by deleting the records in the se cret area.
77 2. Press Y . DEL SECRET? appears. 3. Press Y again. DELETE... appears for about 2 seconds, then the curre nt date and time appear . All the records sto red in the orga- nizer ’s secret memory are cleared. Resetting All Memory If you want to clear all the records in the organizer, follow these steps to completely reset the orga nizer.
78 1. Follow the steps in “Resetting the Secret Memory” on Page 76 and press any key except Y in S tep 3. ERASE DATA? appears. 2. Press Y . RESET... appears for about 2 second s. All the informa- tion stored in the organizer ’s memory (includ ing reco rds in t he secret area) is cleared.
