Quantum 1402 www .quantumrehab.com 1 9 Dual Manual Freewheel Levers For your convenience, your power chair is equipped with dual manual freewheel levers. The levers are located on the inside of the anti-tip wheels. The levers allow you to disengage the drive motors and maneuver the chair manually .
2 0 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 1402 Rear Suspension Y our power chair is equipped with rear suspension. See figure 9. This suspension system works in conjunction with A TS and is designed to maintain a smooth ride when driving over rough terrain and up and down curbs.
Quantum 1402 www .quantumrehab.com 2 1 IV . ASSEMBL Y INITIAL ASSEMBL Y Y our power chair may require some assembly either before initial use or after transportation. NOTE: Any nylon insert lock nut removed during the disassembly or adjustment of the power chair must be replaced with a new nut.
2 2 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 1402 IV . ASSEMBL Y Power Seat Option Installation Y ou r power chair may be equipped with the power seat option. While the seat itself may be any one of the styles offered for this model, the way the seat base attaches to the Quantum 1402 power base is different.

COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS After becoming familiar with your power chair ’ s operation, you may find the need to make some adjustments to increase your comfort, such as seat height and angle, armrest angle, foot platform height and angle, and the controller ’ s position.

3 0 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 1402 V I I . B A TTERIES AND C HAR GING BA TTERIES AND CHARGING Y our power chair uses two long-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. These batteries are sealed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, there is no need to check the electrolyte (fluid) level.

3 2 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 1402 V I I . B A TTERIES AND C HAR GING Battery Break-In T o break in new batteries for maximum efficiency: 1. Fully recharge any new battery prior to its initial use. This brings the battery up to about 90% of its peak performance level.

Rarely do you have an ideal driving situation such as smooth, flat, hard terrain with no wind, hills, or curves. More often you are presented with hills, sidewalk cracks, uneven and loosely packed surfaces, curves, and wind.
3 4 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 1402 V I I . B A TTERIES AND C HAR GING How should I stor e my power chair and its batteries? If you do not use your power chair regularly , we recommend maintaining battery vitality by charging the batteries at least once a week.

Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. Y ou can perform some of these checks, but others require assistance from a Quantum Rehab Specialist.
3 6 www .quantumrehab.com Quantum 1402 VIII. CARE AND MAINTENANCE ! All wheel bearings are prelubricated and sealed. They require no subsequent lubrication. ! The body shroud has been sprayed with a clear sealant coating. Y ou can apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance.

Quantum 1402 www .quantumrehab.com 3 9 VIII. CARE AND MAINTENANCE 4. Locate the two wiring harnesses that are attached to the batteries. 5. Disconnect the two harnesses from their respective quick disconnects by pulling the quick disconnects toward you.
