6 IDENTIFI CA TI ON The 3 W OOD Boiler is identified by: · The ETL Name Pl ate t hat MU ST be applied by QHT In c, so that i t is legible w hen the 3WOOD is i ns talled (for exa m p l e, on the top panel as s ho w n on page 20). · The ASME P late is f as t ened to the f ront o f the boiler on the cas t ing.
7 PROCEDURE IN EVENT OF POWER F A ILURE Should your e l ectric ity go o ff during the heat i ng s eas o n, there are se v eral proced ures t hat sh ould be f o llow ed i n order that you m ay cont i nue to sa f ely ope rate your heating s ystem.
8 REFUELING THE BOILER · Use ex t r e me caution when r efueling the boiler . If the door is opened too quickl y, t he unburned hot gases may ignite and cause a back puff. This is especially true with ver y dry wood. · DO NOT t amper with the chain on the draft r e gulato r as it could cause the fir e to burn out of control.

W ood mu s t be s eas on ed a t least s ix months; h owe ver , it is pre ferable to s eason it for a year to e ight een months. Seas on ed wood w ill not only red uce creosote but will a lso produce more heat.

13 COAL FIRES CAN PRODUCE POISONOUS GASES! All coal fires prod uce large quantities of carb on monoxide (CO) a highly po i s onous gas . Exposure to this gas produc es drowsine ss, sleep, and in some cases , brai n damage or ev en death.
14 T he 3WOOD Boilers are hot water generators that operate by combusti on of hard wood or soft coal. They f eature a high quality and extremely thi ck ASME class 20 cast-ir on body, protected by hi gh-density insul ation that li mits heat loss.
