Chapt er 1. Int r oduction t o the Digi tal V ideo Recorde r (DVR) The f ollowing document i s a reference for V ineyard T eneyard T echnologies ’ Digital Security Sy stem, designed to simulta neously re cord/retrieve up to 4 or 9 channels of video streams.
Chapter 2. Unit Des cription A. DVR Front Panel This chapter briefly describes the buttons on the front pan el of the DVR. These buttons ope rate the basic functions, such as recording, playback, fas t-forward, reverse, etc. For more details on the DVR ′ s on-screen menu, refe r to “Chapter 5.
(6) REW T o play the recorded video backward, press the “REW” button. There are 6 modes of REW , 1~6.T o change the reverse playback speed level, press the “REW” button again. (7) P AUSE T o pause the video playback, press the “ P AUSE” button.
B. DVR Rear Panel. [Note] See “Chapter 4. Ha rdware Installation” f or more details. (1) VIDEO OU T Connect DVR to TV monitor using a RCA cable or BN C cable with RCA adapter . (2) VIDEO IN (or CHANNEL IN) Connect cameras to DVR. Each channel port indica tes a single camera connection.
Chapter 3. Getting S tarted (1) Instal l a hard drive i nto your DVR (som e models come with the hard drive al ready installed). (2) Connect t he DVR to a TV set. (3) Connect ca meras (up to 4) to the DVR. (4) Connect t he LAN cable from the DVR to a network router (optional) (5) Connect a ny other accessories (sen sors or alarms) if necessary .
Chapt er 4. Hard ware Installation A. Connecting DVR to Y ou r TV Set (1) V ideo Input/Output Connection (For TV monito r screen display) Any TV set that has a “RCA V ide o Input” terminal is s uitable for dis play ing the picture. The figure below shows the video s ignal line connection.
B. Camera Installat ion (1) For cameras that have no built-in microphone If your cameras have cables consis ting of power and video cables, connect “VIDEO IN” of your DVR, using the combined camera cable included in the package, and plug i n the camera power adapter .
(2) For cameras that have a built-in microp hone If you’re purchased cam eras t hat have a built-in microphone, follow the diagram below fo r installation.
C. Sensor Installation The DVR can support up to 4 s ensors (not incl uded in the DVR package) in up to four locations. There a re tw o steps for sensor installatio n: (a) Connect the se nsor signal lines to the signal input term inal. (b) Connect t he sensor power lines t o the appropriate power s ource.
D. Alarm Installa tion The DVR has an internal switch for soundi ng an alarm. The switch is normally open, but when the se nsor is triggered, t he alarm is activat ed as well. The circuitry is as foll ows: There a re tw o steps for alarm installation.
E. LAN-DVR Connec tion See the diagram below for steps t o connec t your DVR to a local area network or the internet. For remote m onitoring from your compute r , you must ha ve a L AN connecti on available or Internet access service.
F . Power Conn ec tion Connect the DVR power adapter at the back of the DVR unit. Notice: W e also STRONGL Y rec o mme nd that you plug the DVR and cameras into a T ransient V oltage Surge Protector ( UL-1449 rating). Look for a cla m ping vo ltage of 330 or lower , Joule rating of at least 400, and a r esponse time of 10 nanosec onds or less .
Chapt er 5. DVR Menu Below you will f ind a screen s hot of the DVR main me nu. Press the MENU button to display the screen. Main menu Press [MENU] to enter main menu. Use [UP] a nd [DOWN] to se lect item. Press [SEL] to m odify setting and [M ENU] to confirm and exit.
1. Camera Setup There a re 4 came ras that can be c onnected to the DVR. Us e the ke y buttons on the front pane l to select which ca meras are turned ON or OFF f or rea l-time viewing on the scree n, change ON/OFF by pressing the ‘SELECT’ button.
2. Record Se tup SELECT CAMERA(S) FOR RECORDING Selecting the camera channel/s on RECO RD SETUP m enu is the same as C AMERA SETUP op tions. Choose the camera s you want to Record by selec ting “ ON.
3. Record Frame Ra te ADJUST BETWEEN 1 T O 25 (P AL) OR 1 to 30 (NTSC) FRAMES PER SECOND The tota l fra me r ate per sec ond is 50/60. Y ou can set the f rame rate per channel (1-25) /(1-30).
5. Record Sc hedule The time l ine below indicates the hours of the day based on an AM/PM clock. For each hour you ma y select between NO R ECORD, RECORD, or SENSOR-RECORD.
6. Sensor Setup Notice: Y ou need to buy sensors separately to make s ensored alarm re cording functions opera te on your DVR s ystem. MOTI ON SENSOR RECORDING SENSORED RECORD TIM E This indicates the le ngth of recording time after the sens or ’ s last detection of mo vement.
In this example, Channel 1 has sens ors installed, Open a nd Cl ose, respecti vely . MOTION DETECTOR SETUP This indicate s the sub menu for setting up the so ftware motion detection without any external sensor devices. In this example, Ch annel 1 has Motion Detecti on enabled.
7. Hard Drive Setup HARD DRIVE INFORMA TION 1.OVER W RITE ENABLED: If you choose YES (default setting), recording c ontinues and overwrites oldest previous recordings when ha rd drive space is Full. If you choose NO, the recording s ession stops when the hard drive ca pacity is full.
7.1 Hard Drive Format When you press the “SELECT” ke y you will be prompted to input a Password whe n the hard drive format me nu appears. T ype Password (6) :: ―――――― HARD DRIVE FORMA T When you key in the correct password the f ollowing mes sage will flash 3 times.

(1) P ASSWORD C HANGE · 6-DIGIT P ASSWORD · DEF AUL T P ASSWORD SETTING: 1 1 1 1 1 1 When you select “CHANGE P A SSWORD”, the menu be low will open. 1. Press the channel 1 butt on six times. 2. Once you have i nput the current password, you can set a new password.
(2) SET TIME Y ou ca n cha nge yea r/date/hour/minute/second by using the SET TIME menu. .Y ear .Date .Hour .Minute Second 2007/1 1/1 1= year/month/day 17:50:01= hour/minute/sec ond Use the “ LEFT” a nd “ RIGHT” buttons on the front pa nel to mov e the cursor below the numbers back and f orth.
(4) AUDIO P OR T SETUP AUDIO CHANNEL NUMBER AUDIO RECORD, MUTE YES/NO When you move t he c ursor to “AUDIO POR T RECOR D” and p ush the “SELECT” button, the option will be cha nged to NO or YES . If the option is YES, the audio will be recorded onto the ha rd driv e when you push the RECOR D button.
For Example The setup screen for the above configuration would look like this: (5) PTZ SETUP This DVR can control speed dome cameras (PTZ), which are connected to the DVR. SPEED: Set t he band rate of each channel (2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 56000) PROTOCOL: Select PELCO-P or PELCO-D protoc ol.

· P A SSWORD CONTROL 9. Network Setup NETWORK SETUP Note: The def ault MAC a ddress is: “00-1 1-22-33-44-55”, but after “00” the address will b e set by the system!. Use the UP “ ▲ ”and DOWN “ ▼ ” buttons to left to right and use the “SELECT ” button to change the numbers.
Accessing the DVR over a network T o access the DVR through a computer you need to make sure the default ga teway on the DVR is t he sa me IP addre ss a s your route r , and the fi rst three sets of numbers of the D VR IP address a re the sa me as the first three set s of numbers of r outer ’ s address.
Accessing the DVR from a remote computer T o acce ss the DVR from a remote compute r , in addition to the abo ve steps, you will also need to forward port 80 on the router the DVR is attached to, t o the IP a ddress of the DVR. (This port ca n be changed if if the port is currently being used by a nother progra m.
S tatic verses dynamic addr esses : Y ou can access the DVR t hrough a static or dynamic IP ad dress, however a dyna mic address can c hange from time to time. How often de pends on your service provider . W e suggest www . Dyndns.org or www .no -ip.com domain na me service.

11. Reset Menu RESTO RE F ACTOR Y DEF AUL T SETTINGS Selecting ‘RESET MENU’ will restore all of the f actory default settings for the DVR. -33-.
A. Record Control RECORDING BY CAMERA When the “RECO RD” button is pressed, the rec ording process starts immediately . The recording channel indicators (red dot) next t o CH1 and C H2 on the screen indicate t hat those channel s have been selected to record and are recording.
PLA YBAC K CONTROL T o manually input a specific time to be viewed: 1. Open t he SEARCH TIME window by pressing the “ME NU” button during “PL A Y” mode.
B. Recor d Mode If you press the “ REC” butt on, the DVR goes into “REC” mode. Th e DVR wi ll start recording based on set “Rec ord Schedule”. In rec ord m ode, you can cha nge channel view an d switch the a udio channel. However , you ca nnot playback while in record mode.

Chapt er 7. T roub le Shoot ing Guide 1. What kind of camera should I buy for this DVR? Any BNC or RCA inte rface indoor/outdoor/infrared c amera will work w ith the DVR. It do esn’t matter the color of the c amera. H owever , w eb cameras t hat require a USB interface are not compatible with the DVR.
