6 Congratulations for selecting the new PROFORM ® MAGNA hydrotherapy spa. The innovative MAGNA spa allows you to enjoy all the benefits of hydrothera- py in the comfort and privacy of your home. Hydrotherapy is a proven method for soothing tired muscles after exercise or for relieving the stress of a busy life.
7 There are many factors to consider when choosing a location to set up the hydrotherapy spa. These factors vary depending on whether you plan to use the spa inside or outside. We have listed several factors you may wish to consider as you decide where to set up the spa.
8 2. Close the valve knob on the drain hose. Thread the cap onto the drain hose. Locate the four gate valves inside the access open- ing (there are two gate valves per pump). Make sure that the gate valves are open and that the locking clips are snapped onto the stems of the gate valves, as shown in the inset drawing.
9 5. Make sure that a qualified electrician has wired the spa to a 240 volt power source. Remove the two warning decals (see page 5) from the spa shell. Using a damp cloth, wipe the spa shell clean. Before filling the spa, make sure that it is in the desired position and that there is room to easily service it.
10 The hydrotherapy spa is designed to seat seven adults. The spa holds approximately 375 gallons of water and offers a heating system (80°F to 104°F), a filtration system, and adjustable hydrotherapy jets. Follow the guidelines below to use and maintain the spa for your long-term enjoyment.
11 8. After one minute, the current temperature of the water will be displayed. Push the temperature up or down button to set the temperature of the water . If the water temperature is below the set temperature, the heat indicator light will turn on to show that the water is now being heated.

The filter can be removed for cleaning or replace- ment (see CHECKING AND CLEANING THE FIL- TER on page 15). B. 13 Using the Controls Air Control 1 determines the amount of air flowing through the hydrotherapy jets labeled 1 in the drawing above. If the control is turned counterclockwise, the amount of air will increase; if the control is turned clockwise, the amount of air will decrease.
14 The Light Button turns the underwater light on and off. The T emperature Buttons control the temperature set- ting o f the water . The temperature setting can be from 80°F to 104°F . The water heats at about 6°F per hour with the cover on. Use a medical or other accurate thermometer to check the temperature of the water .
15 Maintenance The hydrotherapy spa is designed to provide years of enjoyment. Please follow the guidelines below to properly maintain your spa. MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Daily • Check the water level and refill the spa to the level shown in step 5 on page 9.
16 W A TER CHEMISTRY Maintaining the pH level of the water is very important to the operation of the spa. T o maintain the proper pH level and to sanitize the spa, you can purchase a chemical starter kit from your local pool and spa sup- ply store.
17 A TT ACHING AND REMOVING THE ACCESS P ANEL T urn off the spa power . T o remove the indicated Access Panel (25), remove the four #10 x 2” Machine Screws (46) that secure the Access Panel to the spa. Carefully remove the Access Panel and set it aside.
18 DRAINING THE PUMPS After the hydrotherapy spa is drained, the jet pumps should also be drained if the spa will be stored for more than thirty days or if it may be exposed to freez- ing temperatures.
19 1. SYMPTOM: THE SP A WILL NOT OPERA TE a. Check to see if the GFCI breaker is tripped or was not turned on. Reset the GFCI breaker . 2. SYMPTOM: THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OR THE GFCI TRIPS WHILE THE SP A IS OPERA TING a. Reset the circuit breaker or the GFCI.
20 9. SYMPTOM: THE W A TER LEVEL DROPS a. A clamp or seal inside the pump compartment may be loose. Check inside the pump compart- ment for excess water and watch the pump unit while it is operating to see if water drips from any of the plumbing.
